Breaking news! Late night on the 13th of June, Thai-Nigerian Justin Bassey (Left…of course Left, don’t mind the guy on the right), has arrived safe and sound in Thailand to proceed claiming the documents needed to play in the Thai National Basketball Team.
For those who are not up to speed, Justin is an 18-year-old 6’5″ combo guard who has been playing in the United States. He is considered one of the top players in his class out of the state of Colorado. Next year, he will be playing for the University of Harvard.
This trip to Thailand, Bassey’s priority is to secure the documentation needed to play for Thailand. If everything goes according to schedule, it should be in time for Bassey to register and play in the FIBA Asia U18 Championship in Iran during 22-30 July.
PS. The Thai jersey is a personal gift and it does not mean in any way that he has been fully cleared to play for Thailand just yet…but my hopes are high that he will be wearing his own Thailand National Team jersey soon.
