This type of game had been due for quite sometime. We’ve been treated with teams overcoming furious rallies, straight up blow outs and defensive dog fights. Even though in the end, it’s all basketball and any type of game is entertaining for me, what we’ve been waiting for is a battle to the buzzer that couldn’t be decided in 40 minutes of regulation. What we needed was an overtime game.
Saigon Heat and Westports Malaysia Dragons made sure we got that.

The game between Saigon Heat and Hi-Tech Bangkok City had been widely anticipated among local fans and ABL fans. Even after the Heat’s close loss to the Singapore Slingers that ended the prospect of a battle to decide the remaining undefeated team, the Heat were on an offensive rampage and Hi-Tech Bangkok City were beating other teams in every way possible. This was going to be a clash of titans.

In a perfect universe, Leonidez Avenido is a follower of this blog page. He will have noticed from the last blog post that he was mentioned only once merely as “The Other Star”. He would have felt offended and fired up that this blogger should know more about him, more than worthy of just one single forgettable mention. In a perfect universe, that would be the explanation why Leo Avenido exploded for 24 points, including 6 three-point shots, against the Laskar Dreya South Sumatra team.
As mentioned quite repeatedly in my previous entries, I have been working based in Vietnam for the past year and change. In this recap, I shall be mainly mentioning the Vietnamese Squad because I am only a bit more familiar with them than the Indonesian Warriors. Throughout the season, I will get to know the Warriors better and I will work from that, but for now, I will work with what I know.
