After playing two games without injured Anthony Tucker and without an injury replacement import, the Macau Black Bears announce the signing of Dewarick Spencer to the team late on the evening of March 10, 2019.

The club formally announced the signing through their social media platforms along with a photo of Spencer beside the Black Bears coaching staff.
Though not officially announced, the signing is expected to be an injury replacement signing for Anthony Tucker who suffered a Jones Fracture in the game against the Formosa Dreamers on March 4. Tucker is expected to be out 4-6 weeks.
Spencer should be able to fill in the scoring void left behind by Tucker nicely, as his track record has shown. The 36-year-old guard has proven himself as a scorer who can fill up the scoreboard on any given night anywhere he goes. After starting his career in France, Spencer has gone all over the globe in some of the largest stages whether it is in Italy, Venezuela, China, Korea, or Lebanon. In nearly every single stint, Spencer has averaged at least 15.0 points per game for his teams.
He also played for Al-Riyadi in the FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2016, winning the MVP award of the tournament but losing in the Finals.
Spencer is also known for playing for Mighty Sports in 2017 both during the Merlion Cup in Singapore and the William Jones Cup in Taiwan. He played as teammates with other ABL talents like Jason Brickman, Matthew Wright, Leo Avenido, and Michael Singletary.
Even without Tucker and without an injury replacement, the Black Bears were able to beat the Westports Malaysia Dragons but came up just short against Alab Pilipinas despite Mikh McKinney’s 50-point outing.
The Black Bears are currently 4th (12-10) in the ABL standings and have already clinched a playoff berth. Their next game will be against Singletary and the Mono Vampire on March 13 at home before hosting another game against Alab Pilipinas on March 15. They will play their last away game of the season against the woeful Wolf Warriors on March 17 before closing out the regular season at home against the Singapore Slingers on March 20.
