Hitech Basketball Club have officially named their 4 imports for the Thailand Basketball Super League (TBSL) in Nick Wiggins and Albert Jackson as world imports and Avery Scharer and Jason Brickman as ASEAN heritage imports.

The TBSL allows teams to sign up two world imports and two ASEAN heritage imports per team. Hitech, however, will be restricted to using only one ASEAN heritage import on the court in games against teams from Thailand in the competition which are PEA Basketball Club and SWU Basketball Club.
Hitech returns Avery Scharer once again after a successful 2 year run with the team in both the TBSL and TBL. In the recent TBL 2018, Scharer helped lead Hitech to their first TBL title in 4 years with an average of 15.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 9.4 assists. The guard of Filipino heritage is a triple-double threat anytime he steps on to the court and is also a fan favorite in Thailand for his flashy style of play. The 1.88M (6’2″) playmaker also has a track record playing in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) playing a single season with the Westports Malaysia Dragons and helping them to their first ABL Finals appearance.
Joining him in the backcourt will be another Filipino-American guard with experience of leading the Westports Malaysia Dragons to the ABL Finals and winning the TBL is former Mono Vampire, Jason Brickman. The ABL’s all-time leader in assists was recently released from the Mono Vampire in the middle of the ABL season before playing for Mighty Sports (Philippines) in the 30th Dubai Basketball International Championship earlier this month. Despite rumors of Brickman joining San Miguel Alab Pilipinas where he would be a local player, Brickman is now confirmed to be a member of Mono Vampire archrival Hitech Basketball Club. Brickman was averaging 12.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 8.9 assists this season in the ABL before he was released.
Hitech will not be able to retain neither Xavier Alexander (who is playing for the Singapore Slingers in the ABL) not Anthony McClain (who is playing for the Dacin Tigers in the Chinese-Taipei Super Basketball League) from their TBL championship run and will instead be getting Albert Jackson and Nick Wiggins as their world imports for this month-long tournament.
30-year-old Jackson joins as the team’s main big man, primed to play alongside the promising and prized Chanatip Jakrawan. He is coming off a championship run with CEB Puero Montt in the Chilean LNB. Jackson has had a length career playing overseas in Argentina, Dominican Republic, China, Iraq, Kuwait, Uruguay, Venezuela, and Ecuador.
Nick Wiggins, the last import to fly in to join the team, is a native of Toronto with experience playing in the NBA G-league as well as Summer League and Pre-Season games. The 28-year-old was a solid bench player at Wichita State where he averaged 5.0 points and 2.0 assists for the Missouri Valley Conference powerhouse. Wiggins has played in Germany and Canada before his recent stint in Argentina for Atletico Argentino de Junin. The 6’6” swingman averaged 17.1 points and 4.2 rebounds in 15 games.
Wiggins comes from a family of high-level athletes. His father, Mitchell, was a star scorer at Florida State averaging 22.7 points in his senior year before playing in the NBA. His mother, Marita, was a star in Track & Field and won two Olympics silver medals. His brother, Andrew, was the No.1 Draft pick in the 2014 NBA draft and currently plays for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Hitech will play against PEA and Adroit (Singapore) on 23 and 24 February, respectively, in the opening weekend of the TBSL.

Avery Scharer กลับมาร่วมทีมอีกครั้ง หลังจากที่ร่วมกันมาอย่างเข้มข้นตลอด 2 ปีที่ผ่านมาทั้งใน TBL และ TBSL โดยใน TBL 2018 ที่ผ่านมานี้ Scharer ก็ช่วยให้ไฮเทคสามารถคว้าแชมป์ TBL ได้เป็นครั้งแรกในรอบ 4 ปีด้วยสถิติเฉลี่ย 15.1 แต้ม 7.4 รีบาวด์ และ 9.4 แอสสิสต์ต่อเกม การ์ดเชื่อฟิลิปปินส์คนนี้ถือว่าเป็นผู้เล่นที่ทำได้อย่างครบเครื่องทุกสิ่งอย่าง อีกทั้งยังเป็นขวัญใจชาวไทยด้วยรูปแบบการเล่นที่สนุกสนานและฉาบฉวยเอาใจคนดู นอกจากนี้แล้ว Scharer ยังเคยช่วยพาทีม Westports Malaysia Dragons เข้ารอบชิง ABL เป็นครั้งแรกในประวัติศาสตร์ของสโมสรอีกด้วย

Jackson เป็นเซนเตอร์วัย 30 ปี ที่จะเข้ามาเป็นเสาหลักในพื้นที่ใต้แป้นให้กับทีม โดยคาดการณ์ว่าจะเล่นคู่กันกับ “โอม” ชนาธิป จักรวาฬ ที่ยังคงฉายฟอร์มดีวันดีคืนให้กับไฮเทค เมื่อเร็วๆ นี้ เขาเพิ่มคว้าแชมป์มากับทีม CEB Puero Montt ในลีกที่ประเทศชิลี นอกจากนี้แล้ว Jackson ยังเคยเล่นที่ประเทศอาร์เจนติน่า, สาธารณรัฐโดมินิกัน, จีน, อิรัก, คูเวต, อุรุกวัย, เวเนซูเอช่า, และ เอกวาดอร์
สุดท้ายนี้ เป็น Import ที่บินเข้ามาสดๆ ร้อนๆ จากประเทศแคนาดาก่อนวันประกาศตัว Nick Wiggins ซึ่งเป็นผู้เล่นที่มีประสบการณ์ในการเล่นมาทั้งใน NBA G-League และ Summer League กับเกม Preseason อีกด้วย ปีกวัย 28 ปีคนนี้ เป็นผู้เล่นที่มีบทบาทสูงกับทีมมหาวิทยาลัยสุดแกร่งอย่าง Wichita State โดยเขามีผลงานสถิติเฉลี่ย 5.0 แต้มและ 2.0 รีบาวด์ในช่วงการเล่นระดับมหาวิทยาลัยช่วงนั้น หลังจากนั้น Wiggins ก็ได้ไปเล่นที่ประเทศเยอรมัน และ แคนาดา ซึ่งเป็นบ้านเกิดของเขา ก่อนที่เพิ่งจะเล่นในลีกอาร์เจนติน่ามากับทีม Atletico Argentino de Junin ซึ่งเขาทำสถิติเฉลี่ยได้อยู่ที่ 17.1 แต้ม และ 4.2 รีบาวด์ ในการลงเล่น 15 เกม

Hitech จะเปิดสนามเจอกับ PEA และ Adroit (สิงคโปร์) ในวันที่ 23 และ 24 กุมภาพันธ์ตามลำดับในสุดสัปดาห์เปิดตัวของ TBSL
