The situation seems pretty bad for Mono Vampire just a little under one-thirds through the 2018-2019 ABL season. They were just one win away from claiming the ABL championship. Now, they are potentially just one healthy Will Artino away from being winless after 8 games. What happened?

What happened to the Mono Vampire?
Let’s start with who the Mono Vampire were in ABL 2017-2018.
The Thailand-based club started their second season in the ABL sluggishly with a 3-3 record heading into the holiday break. After some changes, they turned things around to finish the season with 11 wins in 14 games and the 4th seed in the playoffs. Mono swept the 5th seeded Singapore Slingers before dealing Chong Son Kung Fu (now Macau Black Bears) their only home loss of the season and knocked them out on a last second bucket by Samuel Deguara in Game 2.
They went toe-to-toe against San Miguel Alab Pilipinas in a Finals series that went all the way to 5 games before getting handed the final loss.
Mono Vampire scored the most points (101.2 PPG) on a league-best scoring rate (49.4 FG%), led the league in assists (21.5 APG), while also being the best free-throw shooting team (75.1%). They weren’t the best defensive team statistically, but they did well enough to go with great offense to be a Finals team.
This season, they returned all players including Jason Brickman (league leader in assists) and Michael Singletary (league leading scorer) but lost Paul Zamar (to Blackwater Elite in the PBA) and Deguara (to Hong Kong Eastern). They added Moses Morgan (from Saigon Heat) who was coming off his best season yet and would be playing as a local player because of his Thai heritage. There were new pieces to put together to the puzzle, but it couldn’t be that bad, right?
Well… Mono Vampire are now 1-7 with their recent loss being a disheartening effort against the Heat. Their lone win against the Formosa Dreamers who were previously undefeated looks good on paper… but raises eyebrows since Will Artino was sidelined with sickness for the second half.
On offense, they are currently 7th in scoring (82.1 PPG), 9th in field goal percentage (40.7 FG%), and 8th in assists (16.5 APG).
On defense, they’ve lowered their allowed points average from 97.9 to 88.3… but that’s mostly due to the slower pace they are playing at. Still, opponents are scoring at a similar rate (44.5% last season to 43.1% this season) and the only major difference is foes averaging 8.0 defensive rebounds more from last season.
Yeah, but like WHY?
For starters, the consistent changes in import players (as mentioned here) would certainly have not made it easy. The team switched from playing in a system without a big man to playing in a system with a finesse big man to playing in a system with a physical big man in the span of 8 games. That’s a lot to take in, especially when the player changes are made to heavy minute guys.
The lack of and decrease in production from the locals is also a point of concern (as mentioned here) but there are positive moments like Teerawat Chantachon‘s recent 12-point, 6-rebound game against Hong Kong Eastern or Chitchai Ananti‘s 14-point game against the CLS Knights but they have come along few and far between.
So we are blaming the local Thai players for Mono’s struggles?
The numbers are down for big time roles player like Ananti, Chatachon, and Apiromvilaichai (again, as mentioned) so it would be easy to target them as the culprits. However, they also are logging lows in playing time as well. Less playing time not only means less production, it means less confidence, too.
So we are blaming coach Douglas Marty for not using the Thai players enough?
This creates a bit of a “Did the chicken or the egg come first?” situation whereas a player would be able to produce more and be more confident with more playing time and would play better but the coach also needs players to be ready for any situation he is needed to be in and there isn’t always enough time to build up confidence.
Earlier in the season there might have been more wiggle room or more space for error that would allow Coach Marty to experiment players in more extended situations. But now 8 games into the season with only one win, Coach Marty has to be more strict with his time management and use players that he is more comfortable with.
Those major minutes have been distributed to Singletary, Brickman, Morgan, and the revolving door of the third Import quota.
I bet it’s the third Import’s fault and that why they can’t stay with the team, right?
It’s more of a result of the struggles more than the source of the struggle itself.
Chris Charles and Malcolm White barely had any time to get involved with the team and to expect them to turn around a team that was already in bad shape is very optimistic.
Marcus Keene was a terrific scoring guard and has now moved on to play in the NBA G-League with the Memphis Hustle (7.2 points per game, what up). He was just too big of a disadvantage on the defensive end, especially with Brickman already playing major guard minutes.
Aha! So it’s Jason Brickman’s fault!
True, Brickman is averaging an ABL career-low in assists (8.3 per game) and a career-high in turnovers (3.5 per game), both stats being his calling cards. However, he is trying (and succeeding) in carrying more of the scoring load himself by boosting his three-point shooting in frequency and accuracy.
But Mono Vampire are going up against opposing teams with three world imports now, a big change from the two world import and two heritage import set-up from last year. Teams now get to throw a higher level defender (theoretically) on either Brickman or another Mono offensive player, making it either slightly harder for Brickman to create or for his teammates to finish.
So… it’s the ABL’s fault for changing the Import quota?
For whatever reason the classification rules were based on (raising the level of play, raising the level of entertainment, etc), the fact stands that the rules have changed. The other teams have adapted to it, where some have thrived and some have failed.
But you can’t forget that that among those changes were the classification adjustments which have allowed Mono Vampire to sign Morgan and Freddie Lish as local players to the team.
…so it is Moses Morgan and Freddie Lish’s fault then?
Lish hasn’t been spectacular in his first three games with Mono, but he wasn’t expected to be a big time rotation player immediately either. Putting up 4.3 points and 2.3 rebounds so far is probably not what Mono Vampire expected for when they signed him, but it’s only been three games and he’s been playing limited minutes.
The drop in production from Morgan, on the other hand, has been interesting.
2017-2018: 17.7 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 43.8 FG%, 41.2 3P%
2018-2019: 10.8 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 30.9 FG%, 31.4 3P%
OH GOOD LORD IT IS TOTALLY MOSES MORGAN’S FAULT
It’s easy to look at the statistical drop and say that… but those numbers have to be put in context.
Yes, Morgan is absolutely on a slump. But players get into slumps and break out of them eventually. Also consider that it was not long ago when Morgan was spitting fire, averaging 20-7 for Thailand at the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Eastern Region Pre-Qualifiers. He has the track record to give you some assurance that he’ll get out of this bad groove.
Also consider that he has played the last three ABL seasons in a completely different system with the Saigon Heat, particularly last year under Coach Kyle Julius. Morgan was designated to be more of a catch-and-shoot gunner, receiving passes off a driving Akeem Scott, Maxie Esho, or Mikey Williams.
He had time to adjust during the offseason… to a system that was expecting to use Marcus Keene. After a strong first game with 20 points on 5 three-pointers with Keene, Morgan had to adjust to major role changes from once playing the 4-5 spot to playing the 2-3 spot instead.
Yeah, Morgan is playing poorly… but there is context to his struggles and not for a lack of effort on his end.
So… the only major player left is Michael Singletary. Don’t tell me it’s not him.
Singletary is lifting the responsibility of being the biggest cannon on this Mono Vampire team and with a majority of the team failing to convert, it’s become even more tiring for him. He’s still putting up monster numbers (25.6 points and 11.4 rebounds) with only a slight drop in efficiency but it has been visibly frustrating for him.
Some might point to his negligence to pass the ball (4.6 assist per game last season to 1.8 this season) as a sign of trouble, but this also goes hand in hand with how his teammates have been struggling to finish this season. As the leading scorer of the team, it’s tough to pass on to other teammates when they are struggling to find their shot and the team is struggling to win games.
So I’ve read this far… and learned that nothing is wrong?
On the contrary, everything is wrong.
The local players aren’t producing enough, Douglas Marty’s rotation is off, Mono Vampire can’t find a good enough third import, Jason Brickman is a disadvantage in the import slot this season, Moses Morgan and Freddie Lish isn’t doing enough, Michael Singletary is not passing the ball enough… all of that is happening.
But it’s a resulting chain effect from one another, causing one big problem and one big mess.
It’s easy to just say something is wrong… but is there a way to fix it?
Of course there are ways to fix it. There’s always a way to fix a problem once you identify what’s going wrong and we’ve done that.
The thing is that you can’t expect things to just drastically change in just one snap (yeah, screw you Thanos). Sometimes, you are just that lucky, like how last season’s change from Reggie Johnson to Samuel Deguara helped get Mono Vampire to the Finals. But sometimes, it takes time or may even never pans out like whatever happened to Mono Vampire in their 2015-2016 debut season.
But after 8 games in the ABL season and a busy month of January coming up, they are now forced to push the panic button. If they still are aiming at the championship title at season’s end or even at just a playoff berth, they need to make some drastic changes.
It might be difficult to pinpoint exactly what adjustment they need to make, but they have to think quickly with time running out.

ABL ฤดูกาล 2018-2019 ผ่านไปแล้วเกือบๆ จะ 1/3 ของซีซั่น และ สถานการณ์ของ Mono Vampire ยังดูไม่สู้ดีเท่าไหร่นัก จากปีที่แล้ว ที่พ่ายพลาดท่าอดคว้าแชมป์ไปเพียงเกมเดียว… ปีนี้ กลับคว้าชัยชนะได้เพียงเกมเดียวเท่านั้นในช่วงต้นซีซั่นนี้
เอ… มันเกิดอะไรขึ้นหว่า
เออ นั่นดิ มันเกิดอะไรขึ้นวะ?
เอาละ มาเริ่มจากการดูทรง Mono Vampire ในฤดูาล 2017-2018 ก่อน
ตอนแรกก็เริ่มออกมาตะกุกตะกักเหมือนกัน มีสถิติอยู่ที่ 3-3 ก่อนเข้าสู่ช่วงพักปีใหม่ หลังจากการเปลี่ยนแปลงนิดหน่อย ก็พลิกกลับมาคว้าชัยชนะ 11 ครั้งจาก 14 เกมสุดท้ายของซีซั่น เข้าเพลย์ออฟไปเป็นอันดับที่ 4 และหลังจากที่เอาชนะ Singapore Slingers ก็คว้าชัยในบ้าน Chong Son Kung Fu ได้เป็นทีมแรก ก่อนที่จะยัดเยียดความปราชัยเป็นครั้งที่สองติดต่อกัน ด้วยลูกยิงวินาทีสุดท้ายของ Samuel Deguara เข้ารอบชิงไปได้
ในรอบชิงที่เจอกับ San Miguel Alab Pilipinas ก็แลกกันหมัดต่อหมัด ผลัดกันชนะจนต้องไปวัดกันที่เกมที่ 5 และก็เป็นฝ่ายพ่ายไปในที่สุด

แต่ผลออกมา… ตอนนี้ Mono Vampire ชนะมาได้เพียง 1 เกมจากทั้งหมด 8 เกม แถมเกมสุดท้ายที่เจอ Heat ที่ผ่านมา ก็โดนถล่มยับ ชัยชนะเพียง 1 ครั้งของเกมนี้ อาจจะดูดี ด้วยการเอาชนะ Formosa Dreamers ได้เป็นทีมแรกในซีซั่นนี้ แต่ก็มีหมายเหตุนิดหน่อยว่า ตัวเก่งของ Dreamers คือ Will Artino มีอาการไม่สบาย และ ไม่ได้ลงสนามในครึ่งหลัง
ในด้านเกมบุก ตอนนี้ Mono Vampire อยู่อันดับที่ 7 ด้านการทำแต้ม (82.1 PPG) อันดับที่ 9 ด้านอัตราการทำแต้ม (40.7 FG%), และ 8 ด้านการทำแอสสิสต์ (16.5 APG).
ฝ่ายเกมป้องกัน สามารถเสียแต้มได้น้อยลง จาก 97.9 เหลือ 88.3… แต่เหตุผลหลักๆ น่าจะเป็นเพราะจังหวะของเกมที่เล่นช้าลง ถึงอย่างไรก็เสียแต้มในอัตราการยิงลงที่พอๆ กับปีที่ผ่านมา จาก 44.5% ลดเหลือ 43.1% ก็ยังถือว่าดี ทำให้ส่วนต่างที่มากที่สุด คงเป็นเรื่องของรีบาวด์เกมรับ ที่เสียให้ทีมตรงข้าม 8.0 ครั้งมากกว่าปีที่แล้ว
เออ เข้าใจก็ได้ แต่ทำไมมันเป็นงั้นวะ?
อย่างแรกเลย คือ การเปลี่ยนผู้เล่นหลักในทีมบ่อยๆ มันไม่ดีกับระบบทีมอยู่แล้ว (อย่างที่กล่าวไว้ ที่นี่) การที่เปลี่ยนระบบจาก ไม่มีผู้เล่นตัวใหญ่ จนมีผู้เล่นตัวใหญ่ที่เล่นรูปแบบหนึ่ง จนเป็นผู้เล่นวงในที่เล่นบาสแบบปะทะหนักๆ ภายในระยะเวลาเพียง 8 เกมเท่านั้น ทั้งหมดนี้ ต่างใช้เวลาในการย่อยข้อมูงอย่างสูงสำหรับผู้เล่นในทีม โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งกับในสถานการณ์ที่ตัวผู้เล่นที่เปลี่ยนไป เป็นตัวหลักที่ได้ลงเล่นเยอะ
ผลงานที่ลดลง หรือ หายไป ของตัวผู้เล่นคนไทย ก็เป็นเรื่องที่น่าเป็นห่วง (และได้กล่าวไว้ ที่นี่) แต่ก็ยังมีเกมดีๆ จากทั้ง “บิ๊ก” ธีรวัฒน์ หรือ “เป้” ชิดชัย อนันติ อยู่ประปราย ถึงแม้ว่าจะน้อยไปหน่อยก็ตามที
สรุปเราจะบอกว่า ผู้เล่นคนไทยผิดใช่ปะ ที่ทีมผลงานไม่ดีตอนนี้?
ทางสถิติแล้ว ผลงานของ ทั้ง เป้ บิ๊ก และ “ปาล์ม” ดรงค์พันธุ์ อภิรมย์วิไลชัย ต่างก็ลดลงมาอย่างน่าใจหาย แต่อีกมุมนึงก็คือ เวลาในการลงเล่นของพวกเขาลดลงด้วย ซึ่งไม่ได้หมายถึงผลงานที่ลดลงไปเท่านั้น แต่หมายถึงความมั่นใจที่ตกลงด้วย
ก็เลยจะบอกว่าเป็นความผิดโค้ช Douglas Marty สินะ ทำให้ฟอร์มเป็นแบบนี้?
พูดแบบนั้น มันก็จะกลายเป็นสถานการณ์แบบ “ไก่กับไข่ อะไรเกิดก่อนกัน”
ส่วนหนึ่ง ผู้เล่นก็ต้องการเวลาในการลงไปเล่น สร้างความมั่นใจ เพื่อให้เล่นได้ดีขึ้น แต่ถ้ามองในมุมมองของโค้ช เขาก็ต้องการผู้เล่นที่พร้อมลงไปทำในสิ่งที่ทีมต้องการได้ในทันทีระดับที่คาดหวังไว้ ทำให้อาจจะไม่มีเวลามากพอที่จะรอให้นักกีฬามั่นใจ ก่อนที่จะเปลี่ยนตัวออกมา
ไม่แน่ว่าช่วงต้นฤดูกาล อาจจะมีช่องว่างให้ พัฒนาปรับปรุงอะไรมากกว่านี้ อาจจะได้ลองใช้ผู้เล่นคนนั้นคนนี้นานกว่าปกติหน่อย แต่ตอนนี้ผ่านไปแล้ว 8 เกม แถมชนะได้เพียงครั้งเดียว ทำให้โค้ชต้องบริหารเวลาในการลงเล่นของผู้เล่นให้ละเอียดมากขึ้น ด้วยการใช้ผู้เล่นที่เขามั่นใจ
เวลาในการลงเล่นหลักๆ จะไปหนักที่ Singletary, Brickman, Morgan, หรือ ไม่ก็ Import ตัวที่ 3 นั่นแหละ
มันต้องเป็นความผิดไอ้ตัวที่สามแน่ๆ ไม่งั้นมันก็ไม่มีที่ไปหรอก?
ตัว Import ทั้งสามคนนั้น เหมือนเป็นผลของสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นมากกว่าสาเหตุของสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้น
Chris Charles และ Malcolm White ต่างก็แทบไม่มีเวลาได้ปรับตัวกับทีม และ การที่จะคาดหวังว่า คนใดคนหนึ่งจะเป็นอัศวินขี่ม้าขาวมาพลิกสถานการณ์ก็คงลำบาก
Marcus Keene ที่เป็นตัวเลือกแรกเมื่อต้นฤดูกาล เป็นการ์ดทำสกอร์ที่ดีมาก และ ไปเล่นใน NBA G-League กับทีม Memphis Hustle เรียบร้อย (ทำอยู่ 7.2 คะแนนต่อเกมด้วย) แต่รูปร่างของเขาทำให้เกิดความเสียเปรียบทางร่างกายมากเกินไป ยิ่งเมื่อมี Brickman เป็นการ์ดจอมทัพอีกคนอยู่แล้ว
เอ้า! งั้นก็แปลว่าผิด Brickman นี่เองสินะ!
คงไม่ผิด ถ้าจะบอกว่า Brickman ถดถอยลงในส่วนที่ตัวเองทำได้ดีที่สุดสองอย่าง คือการแอสสิสต์ (8.3 ต่อเกม, ต่ำสุดในการเล่น ABL) และ รักษาเทิร์นโอเวอร์ (3.5 ต่อเกม, มากที่สุดในการเล่น ABL) แต่ในทางเดียวกัน เขาพยายามทดแทนส่วนนั้นด้วยการปรับภาระในการทำแต้มของตัวเองเพิ่มขึ้น และก็ทำได้ดีในการยิงสามแต้มให้มากขึ้น และแม่นขึ้น พร้อมๆ กัน
แต่ใน ABL ตอนนี้ ทีมจะต้องเจอกับ World Import 3 คนในทุกๆ เกม ถือว่าเป็นความเปลี่ยนแปลงครั้งใหญ่ จากแต่ก่อนที่เป็น World Import 2 คน และ Heritage Import 2 คนเมื่อปีที่ผ่านมา ตรงนี้ทำให้ทีมตรงข้ามสามารถเพิ่มตัวที่เล่นเกมป้องกันดีๆ เข้ามาในสนามอีกคนเพื่อกัน Brickman ไม่ก็ผู้เล่น Mono อีกคนหนึ่ง ซึ่งเป็นผลทำให้ Brickman สร้างจังหวะยากมากขึ้น หรือ ทำให้เพื่อนร่วมทีมที่โดนประกบอยู่จบสกอร์ยากมากขึ้น
ชัดเลย ความผิดของ ABL ที่เปลี่ยนกฏสินะ?
ไม่ว่าการเปลี่ยนกฏจะเกิดขึ้นเพราะเหตุอะไร (เพื่อเพิ่มระดับการเล่น เพื่อให้เกมสนุกขึ้น หรือ อะไรก็ตามที) แต่สิ่งที่จับต้องได้คือ กฏมันมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงจริงๆ ทีมอื่นๆ เขาปรับตามกันไปแล้ว บางทีมก็ทำได้ดี บางทีมก็ยังป้ำๆ เป๋อๆ
แต่ในอีกมุมหนึ่ง กฏที่เปลี่ยนไปก็มีกฏที่ทำให้ Mono Vampire สามารถเซ็น Morgan กับ Freddie Lish มาเป็นผู้เล่น Local เช่นเดียวกัน
…ก็เลยเป็นความผิดของ Moses Morgan กับ Freddie Lish เรอะ?
ในสามเกมแรก Lish อาจจะยังเล่นไม่โดดเด่นเท่าไหร่ แต่เขาก็ไม่ได้ถูกวางไว้ให้เป็นคนที่มีบทบาทหนักกับทีมทันที การที่ทำได้ 4.3 แต้ม กับ 2.3 รีบาวด์ คงจะห่างไกลจากเป้าที่ Mono Vampire วางไว้ แต่ก็ยังถือว่าผ่านไปเพียง 3 เกมแถมยังลงได้ไม่นานเท่าไหร่ในแต่ละเกมอีก
ในส่วนของ Morgan ผลงานของเขาที่ตกลงไปค่อนข้างน่าใจหาย

2018-2019: 10.8 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 30.9 FG%, 31.4 3P%
โห ชัดเลยๆๆๆๆๆ Morgan แน่ๆ ดูสถิติมันสิ!
มันก็คงง่ายดี ที่จะดูสถิติแล้วจิ้มว่า “เฮ้ย ยูห่วย ยูผิด” แต่ตัวเลขเหล่านี้ ก็ต้องดูบริบทประกอบคู่กันไปด้วย
ใช่ ตอนนี้ Morgan ถือว่าอยู่ในฟอร์มโคตรฝืด แบบ ออกทะเลไปไกลท่องย่านน้ำทั้งเจ็ดได้วันพีซมาเรียบร้อย… แต่นักกีฬาก็เจอเรื่องแบบนี้บ้างเป็นประจำ อย่าลืมว่า ก่อนหน้านี้ ไม่กี่เดือน เขาทำเฉลี่ย 20 แต้มกับอีก 7 รีบาวด์ ให้กับทีมชาติไทยในรายการ FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Eastern Region Pre-Qualifiers อยู่เลย ผลงานที่ผ่านมา มันอ้างอิงได้ว่า เขาอาจจะหลุดไปบ้าง แต่กลับมาได้เรื่อยๆ
สาม ฤดูกาลที่ผ่านมา เขาเจอกับระบบที่ต่างกันแทบจะสุดขีดกับที่เจอตอนนี้ โดยเฉพาะปีล่าสุดที่เล่นกับโค้ช Kyle Julius และทีม Saigon Heat เขามีบทบาทเป็นตัวรับยิงจากจังหวะข้ามส่งของ Akeem Scott, Maxie Esho, หรือ Mikey Williams มากกว่า
ถึงเขามีเวลาในการปรับตัวกับทีมช่วงปิดซีซั่น… แต่ก็เป็นการปรับตัวกับระบบที่เตรียมการมาเพื่อใช้ Marcus Keene ซึ่งก็เห็นได้ว่า เขาทำได้ดีในเกมที่เจอกับ Macau Black Bears เกมแรกที่ทำไป 20 แต้มกับสามแต้มอีก 5 ลูก แต่หลังจากนั้นก็ต้องปรับตัวครั้งใหญ่จากการที่เล่นตำแหน่งเบอร์ 4-5 มาเป็นตำแหน่งเบอร์ 2-3 แทน
ใช่ ตอนนี้ Morgan อยู่ในช่วงที่เล่นห่วย… แต่บริบทของการเล่นห่วยก็มีอยู่ และ ก็ไม่ใช่เพราะขาดความพยายามของเขา
เอาละ ก็เหลือคนเดียวสินะ! Mike Singletary นี่เอง คุณคือผู้ร้าย!!!
Singletary เป็นปืนใหญ่ที่ทรงอานุภาพที่สุดของ Mono Vampire ตอนนี้ และยิ่งเมื่อทุกคนทำแต้มได้อย่างไม่คงที่ กลายเป็นภาระที่หนักมากขึ้นสำหรับไมค์ เขายังทำผลงานทางสถิติได้ยอดเยี่ยม (25.6 points และ 11.4 rebounds) แม้ว่าจะมีประสิทธิภาพตกลงไปบ้าง
แต่ก็เห็นได้ชัดทุกเกมว่า เขาเหนื่อยและมีความหงุดหงิด
บางคนอาจจะชี้เป้าไปที่จำนวนครั้งการส่งลูกที่ลดลง จากที่ทำแอสสิสต์ 4.6 ครั้งต่อเกมปีที่แล้ว เหลือเพียง 1.8 ครั้งต่อเกมปีนี้ และบอกว่า นี่แหละคือปัญหา แต่อย่างที่กล่าวคือ มันก็เป็นผลพวงจากที่คนอื่นที่ไม่สามารถทำแต้มได้เท่าไหร่เหมือนกัน
ในฐานะที่เป็นตัวทำแต้มอันดับ 1 ของทีม คงยากที่จะตัดสินใจจ่ายบอลให้เพื่อนในช่วงนี้ ที่ทุกคนดูฟอร์มตกลงไป และ ทีมต้องการชัยชนะมากยิ่งขึ้นในทุกๆ เกม
สรุปที่อ่านมายาวเหยียดนี่ คุณจะบอกว่าไม่มีอะไรหรือไม่มีใครผิดหรอ?
ในทางกลับกัน ทุกอย่างมันผิดนั่นแหละเวลานี้
ไม่ว่าจะทั้งผู้เล่นคนไทยที่ยังทำผลงานได้ไม่มากพอ หรือ การวนตัวของโค้ช หรือ ทีมไม่สามารถหา Import คนที่ 3 ที่ลงตัว หรือ ความเสียเปรียบของ Brickman หรือ Morgan กับ Lish ที่ยังทำผลงานได้ไม่ดีเท่าที่คาดหวังไว้ หรือ Singletary ที่จ่ายบอลน้อย… ทุกอย่างทั้งหมดนี้ เกิดขึ้นจริงๆ
แต่มันเป็นปฏิกิริยาลูกโซ่ ซึ่งกันและกันมากกว่า กองเป็นปัญหาชิ้นใหญ่ของทีม
จะพูดจะพิมพ์ มันง่าย แล้วแก้ยังไงอะ?
แน่นอนว่า มันมีวิธีแก้อยู่แล้ว ทุกอย่างมันแก้ได้เสมอแหละ ในเมื่อเราเริ่มมองออกว่ามีอะไรที่ผิด มีอะไรที่พลาดไปแล้วบ้าง
แต่สิ่งที่ไม่ควรคาดหวังคือ การที่ดีดนิ้วเปาะ แล้วปัญหาหายไปเลย (เออ ธานอส เลว) บางทีคุณอาจจะดวงดีก็ได้ แล้ว ปัญหาทุกอย่างหายไปหมด เหมือนกันการเปลี่ยน Reggie Johnson เป็น Deguara ปีที่แล้วและเข้าไปถึงรอบชิง แต่ส่วนใหญ่แล้ว มันต้องใช้เวลา หรือ บางที อาจจะไม่เกิดอะไรดีขึ้นมาเลยก็ได้ อย่างที่เห็นกับทีม Mono Vampire เมื่อปี 2015-2016
ตอนนี้ ABL ผ่านไปแล้ว 8 เกม และ เดือนมกราคมนี้ จะเป็นเดือนที่แข่งกันถี่มาก เป็นจังหวะบังคับให้ Mono Vampire ต้องอยู่ในโหมด ตื่นตูม แล้ว ถ้าหากว่าปีนี้ ยังต้องการคว้าแชมป์ ABL หรือแม้แต่หวังจะเข้ารอบเพลย์ออฟ… ความเปลี่ยนแปลง ต้องเกิดขึ้น ณ ตอนนี้ และต้องเป็นการเปลี่ยนแปลงครั้งใหญ่
อาจจะยากที่จะเจาะจงว่า ต้องเปลี่ยนอะไรยังไง เพื่อให้ไปในทางที่ดีขึ้น แต่ตอนนี้ต้องรีบตัดสินใจ ด้วยเวลาที่ค่อยๆ หมดลงไปอย่างรวดเร็ว
