According to sources, Tim Lewis has now been terminated of his contract and will no longer be the Head Coach of the Thailand Men’s Basketball National Team.

More details will be revealed later on, but the situation right now is that the Thailand National Team is without a head coach. It has been speculated that current Mono Vampires Head Coach, Douglas Marty, will be taking up the position.
The news is certainly concerning with only a little over a month left heading into #SEAGames2017. With barely any preparation as is, the Thailand National Team will now have to go through a major makeover with a drastic change at the Head Coach position.
Tim Lewis started his job as the Head Coach of the Thailand National Team back in April 2016 in preparation of the SEABA Stankovic 2016 where the team was able to secure a Silver Medal. After that, Thailand played in the FIBA Asia Challenge 2016 and dropped out of the second round with an 0-5 record. The most recent tournament for the Thailand National Team under Tim Lewis’ reign was at the SEABA Championship 2017 where they were awarded the Bronze medal on a 4-2 record.

สิ่งที่น่าเป็นห่วงคือ เหลืออีกประมาณหนึ่งเดือนกว่าๆ ก่อนที่จะเริ่มทำการแข่งขัน #SEAGames2017 แต่ทางทีมชาติไทยยังมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงครั้งใหญ่จากการต้องมาเปลี่ยนหัวหน้าโค้ชอย่างกระทันหัน ต้องติดตามกันต่อไปว่า สถานการณ์จะดำเนินต่อไปอย่างไรบ้าง
โค้ช ทิม ลูอิส ได้เข้ามาเป็นหัวหน้าผู้ฝึกสอนทีมชาติไทย ในช่วงเมษายนปี 2016 ในช่วงเตรียมพร้อมสำหรับรายการ SEABA Stankovic 2016 ซึ่งทำผลงานออกมาได้เหรียญเงินในรายการดังกล่าว ต่อมาจึงได้นำทีมชาติไทยไปแข่งในรายการ FIBA Asia Challenge 2016 ที่ประเทศอิหร่าน และ ผลงานออกมา แข่ง 5 เกม ชนะ 0 เกม ตกในการแข่งขันรอบที่สอง รายการล่าสุดที่ ทิม ลูอิส ทำการคุมทีมชาติไทยที่ผ่านมา คือ รายการ SEABA Championship 2017 ซึ่ง ทำผลงานได้เหรียญทองแดง ชนะ 4 แพ้ 2 เกม

You never like to see a coach lose his job, and head coach of a national team, especially Thailand’s, is a big deal. Just sorry to hear the news and wish Coach Tim the best. Coach Doug is more than capable and he has some time to prepare. He and coach Tim have been working side-by-side so it’s not too drastic a change. Hopefully, the team will be at it’s best for the SEA Games.
