To be fair, maybe the Patrick Sanders to Mono-Thewphaingarm wasn’t supposed to be a secret so labeling it as the worst kept secret is a bit harsh.

Whatever the case, the club has yet to release an official announcement despite Sanders having practiced with the team for at least a month.
After the whole ordeal with this case, I’ve slowly come to this realization that maybe Thai basketball fans don’t really care about who the teams sign until they actually get to see them play and probably have an even lesser interest on their back story leading up to this point.
Pictures of Sanders being involved in Mono-Thewphaingarm activities and practices have been quite easy to find and the club hasn’t been shy about posting it, yet I haven’t seen anyone straight up asking “HEY, WHO’S THAT BLACK GUY THAT ISN’T ANTHONY MCCLAIN?”. (Which you can feel free to comment in the picture below)
I’m not saying that this is wrong or suggesting that fans should always barrage teams with questions all the time, but I just find it curious as someone who has a habit of nosing around.
But you know what? I don’t care if the fans care about this or not. I’m still going to update this stuff because I feel someone should.
So…
Aside from Anthony McClain, it seems like Mono-Thewphaingarm will sign Patrick Sanders to fill up their World Import quota.
The 31-year-old has enjoyed a career all over the world from Latvia to Argentina to Japan to Mexico to the Netherlands to Australia to France including stints in the early ages of the NBA D-League. Everywhere Sanders has played, he’s been a volume scorer and a capable rebounder at the small forward position. Sanders seems to have been consistent in his production dating back to when he played in college for UC Irvine where he was awarded the All-Big West first team in his senior season.
Pairing McClain with Sanders seems to be quite ideal, since Sanders is known to be a long-range sniper. Among the professional leagues that have recorded statistics on RealGM, Sanders has never shot less than 40% from long-range (in 124 games). You can also find a recent video of Sanders nailing 24 of 25 shots in a three-point shooting contest in the defunct Japanese BJ League (best name ever).
This was just from earlier in 2016, so don’t expect much to change once the TBSL kicks off in 2017.
2016 seems to have been a pretty good year for Sanders and one of the top google searches for his name has resulted in the news of his marriage to Australian The Voice singer, Prinnie Stevens. Their relationship dates back 3 years to when Sanders was playing for the Sydney Kings in Australia. And now we can all believe in love again.
…back to basketball, it seems like Mono Thewphaingarm are forming a formidable three-point shooting team to surround the size of Anthony McClain. Recent signing Jittaphon Towaroj already added to the firepower of mainstays Nattakarn Meungboon, Panurat Chatsiriyingyong, and Tanakarn Sriboonreung. And this is without even mentioning their rumored ASEAN Import signings who are also known gunners themselves.
Mono-Thewphaingarm (and hopefully, Patrick Sanders) will be in action once the Thailand Basketball Super League (TBSL) kicks off on January the 7th.

รูปภาพของ ซานเดอร์ส ที่ร่วมฝึกซ้อม หรือ ร่วมกิจกรรมของทางสโมสรทิวไผง่ามนั้น ได้มีการโพส อยู่เรื่อยๆ ไม่มีท่าทีว่าจะปกปิดเลยแม้แต่น้อย ทั้งอย่างนั้นแล้ว น้อยครั้งที่เราจะเห็นแฟนๆ เข้ามาถามว่า “เฮ้ยยยยย ไอ้นี่มันเป็นใคร? นักกีฬาใหม่ของทีมหรอครับ?” (…แต่ถ้าอยากจะคอมเมนต์ก็เชิญในรูปข้างล่างนี้ได้เลยนะ 5555)
ซึ่งตรงนี้ ผมก็ไม่ได้ตั้งใจจะบอกว่า เป็นสิ่งที่ผิด หรือ ตั้งใจจะบังคับให้ทุกคนต้องมาเจาะติดเรื่องราวชีวิตของทุกคนอย่างใกล้ชิด เพราะเข้าใจว่า แต่ละคนก็มีความสนใจในแต่ละเรื่องที่แตกต่างกันออกไป
แค่รู้สึกว่ามันเป็นเรื่องที่น่าสงสัยในฐานะที่ตัวเองเป็นขี้เสือก แต่ กลับมาคนที่ขี้เสือกด้วยกันน้อยไปหน่อย 55555
แต่ก็นั่นแหละ ช่างมัน! ยังไงซะ ผมก็ยนังจะอัพเดทเรื่องพวกนี้เหมือนเดิม เพราะ รู้สึกว่า ถ้าไม่มีใครมาอัพเดท ก็จะยังไม่มีใครสนใจเหมือนเดิม และ เชื่อมั่นว่า คงต้องมีคนประเภทที่แอบขี้เสือกตามอ่านอยู่บ้างไม่มากก็น้อย

นอกจาก แอนโธนี่ แมคเคลน ดูเหมือนว่า ทางค่ายยักษ์เขียว โมโน-ทิวฯ จะได้เซ็นสัญญากับ แพตทริก ซานเดอร์ส มาเป็น World Import อีกคน
พ่อนุ่มวัน 31 ปีคนนี้ ร่อนมารอบโลกแล้ว ในฐานะนักบาสอาชีพ โดยไปมาทั้ง ลัตเวีย อาร์เจนติน่า ญี่ปุ่น เม็กซิโก ฮอลแลนด์ ออสเตรเลีย ฝรั่งเศส อีกทั้งยังเล่นใน NBA D-League ในช่วงที่ก่อตั้งลีกยุคแรกๆ

การจับคู่ระหว่าง แมคเคลน กับ ซานเดอร์ส ดูจะเป็นอะไรที่เหมาะเจาะลงตัวมาก เนื่องจากว่า ซานเดอร์ส มีชื่อเสียงในด้านการยิงระยะไกล จากสถิติทั้งหมดที่มีในการเล่นอาชีพ (จาก RealGM) ซานเดอร์สนั้นไม่เคยยิงสามแต้มด้วยอัตราการยิงลงที่ต่ำกว่า 40% จากที่บันทึกทั้งหมด 124 เกม
นอกจากนี้ ยังมีวีดีโอ ที่ซานเดอร์ส โชว์ความแม่นเทพด้วยการซัดลงไป 24 ลูกจากการยิง 25 ครั้งในการแข่งยิงสามแต้มของ BJ League (ญี่ปุ่น)
ซึ่งการโชว์ฟอร์มยิงราวกับจับวางนี้ เพิ่งเกิดขึ้นเมื่อต้นปีที่ผ่านมาเท่านั้นเอง เพราะฉะนั้น แฟนๆ น่าจะคาดหวังความแม่นในระดับที่ใกล้เคียงกันได้ปีหน้า ตอนที่ TBSL เริ่มการแข่งขันขึ้น
ดูเหมือนว่าปีที่ผ่านมานั้นจะเป็นปีที่ดีสำหรับซานเดอร์ส เพราะ นอกจากเรื่องบาสแล้ว ซานเดอร์ส ยังมีชื่อติดหัวข่าว ด้วยการตกลงปลงใจสมรสกับแฟนสาว พรินนี่ สตีเวนส์ ที่คบหาดูใจกันมาสามปี สตีเวนส์ นั้นเป็นนักร้องที่ผ่านเวทีประกวด เดอะ ว๊อยส์ ที่ประเทศ ออสเตรเลียมา ซึ่งทั้งคู่เจอกันช่วงที่ ซานเดอร์ส เล่นให้กับทีม ซิดนีย์ คิงส์ ที่ออสเตรเลีย ก่อนที่จะรักษาความสัมพันธ์ต่อเนื่องมาตลอด

การเสริมทัพของโมโน-ทิวฯ นั้น ชี้ชัดไปในแนวทางการสร้างทีมกระหน่ำยิงสามแต้มตามยุคกาลสมัยปัจจุบัน และ ขุนข้างในด้วย “บิ๊กกี้” แอนโธนี่ แมคเคลน ก่อนที่จะเซ็น ซานเดอร์ส มานั้น ก็มีการเสริม ตัวยิงระดับชาติ “ชอปเปอร์” จิตรภณ โตเวโรจน์ ซึ่งพอมารวมกับทั้ง ซานเดอร์ส และ ตัวหน้าเก่า อย่าง “อาร์ม” ณัฐกานต์ เมืองบุญ, “โย่ง” ภาณุรัตน์ ฉัตรศิริยิ่งยง, และ “แมม” ธนการณ์ ศรีบุญเรือง ทำให้ทีมนี้ เป็นทีมที่มีป้อมกราการที่น่ากลัวหลายหน่อเลยทีเดียว
นี่ยังไม่ได้กล่าวถึงสองตัว ASEAN Import ที่จะมาเสริมทัพอีก!!!
