Despite playing in different leagues this season, the Mono Vampires and the Saigon Heat seem to be keeping friendly ties as both agree to a preseason weekend in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Saigon Heat are only a few weeks away from tipping off their ABL season on December 3 against the Singapore Slingers and they’ll be needing all the exposure they can get for their ABL team.
Of the projected starting five; Lenny Daniel, David Viet Arnold, and Stefan Nguyen should have no problem gelling together as they combined for 44.8 points, 20.1 rebounds, and 9.6 assists last season. Nguyen and Arnold should be in shape having just recently wrapped up the VBA season.
The main purpose for this preseason match up should be more focusing on getting new acquisitions, Joshua Munzon and Chris Charles, used to Coach Tony Garbelotto’s system. It might be easier to adjust for Charles who has had plenty of experience in the professional basketball scene, but we’ll see how Munzon blends in in the Filipino-American’s first stint as a professional basketball player.
The rest of the Saigon Heat’s lineup is yet to have been announced (even Stefan Nguyen has not been officially announced, but we know he’s pretty much of a lock), but there are major changes to be expected. Outside of aforementioned Stefan Nguyen (and possibly Tuan Trung Ngo and Han Minh Trieu), no one else from last season is close to being a “lock” to return to the roster. Therefore, Coach Garbelotto will surely want to get his hands dirty as much as he can before the season starts.
And getting the Mono Vampires to play them is an excellent choice, in my honest opinion.
The Mono Vampires themselves are preparing for the Thailand Basketball Super League (which even though is still not officially announced, seems to be a legitimate thing) and have formed themselves a formidable team that will need some fine tuning as well. While all of the the main local players are returning from their TBL championship run, they will be switching up a lot in terms of World Imports and ASEAN Imports.
Reggie Johnson is returning, but Coreontae DeBerry won’t and he will be replaced with Mike Singletary (ex-San Miguel Beermen and Mighty Sports). Jason Brickman has followed former KL Dragons teammate Johnson to the Vampires as their ASEAN Import. The Vampire didn’t have an ASEAN Import in the TBL since they finished above 3rd place in the previous season. Rounding out the moves is Moses Morgan, who is expected to play as a Heritage Import in the TBSL (he played as a local in the TBL).
Morgan is very familiar with the Saigon Heat after playing with them during the past ASEAN Basketball League season.
According to a Saigon Heat Facebook post, The two teams are reportedly proposed to engage in an official exhibition match on the 26th.
The Saigon Heat won all 4 match up against the Mono Vampires last season in the ABL.

นอกจากเรจจี้ จอห์นสัน ที่คว้าแชมป์ด้วยกันมาแล้ว โมโนจะไม่ได้ใช้งาน คอรีออนเต เดอเบอร์รี่ ในรอบนี้ โดยสับเอา ไมค์ ซิลเกิลแทรี่ เข้ามาแทน (เล่นมากับ ซานมิเกล เบียร์เมน และ ไมตี้สปอร์ตส์ มาก่อน) คนที่ตามจอห์นสันพ่วงมาอีกคน คือ เจสัน บริกแมน ที่ได้ปแชมป์ ABL มาด้วยกันเมื่อปีที่ผ่านมา บริกแมนจะเล่นในบท ASEAN Import ทางโมโน แวมไพร์ไม่มีโควตา ASEAN Import ใน TBL ก็จริง แต่สำหรับกฏของ TBSL นั้นแตกต่างกันออกไป และท้ายที่สุดก็ต้องพูดถึงการย้ายตัวของ โมเสส มอร์แกน ที่ต้องเล่นในบท Heritage Import หลังจากที่เล่นเป็น Local ใน TBL ที่ผ่านมา
มอร์แกนนั้น แน่นอนว่า คุ้นเคยกับ ไซ่ง่อน ฮีต มามากแล้ว หลังจากที่เล่นกับทีมจากเวียดนามทีมนี้ มาตลอด ABL ฤดูกาลที่ผ่านมา
ตามการรายงานของโพสเพจเฟซบุ๊คของ Saigon Heat ทั้งสองทีมนี้จะทำการแข่งขันอุ่นเครื่องอย่างเป็นทางการวันเสาร์ที่ 26 พฤศจิกายน
จากการพบกัน 4 ครั้งล่าสุดในปี่ที่ผ่านมา ไซ่ง่อน ฮีต ชนะทุกครั้ง
