Anthony McClain will be back in Thailand once again, this time to join the troops of Mono Thewphaingarm.

The last time he played in Thailand was with the Mono Vampires, where he played through two TBL seasons and one ABL season. McClain averaged 12.8 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks in his two TBL seasons. He was their anchor in the paint that kickstarted the franchise leading them to a third place finish in their first season before winning it all in the following year. McClain would be the Finals MVP in that particular series which he averaging 11.0 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks.
After the TBL Championship, the Mono Vampires moved to play in the ABL and McClain remained their main force. Without the import restriction of the TBL, McClain was able to play with full force and he averaged 18.2 points, 13.9 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks. However, it was not enough to shoulder the Mono Vampires to more than 4 wins in their maiden ABL season.
McClain was a fan favorite among the Vampire faithful for his playful personality that contrasted his frightful gargantuan physique.
Fans sounded their desire to see McClain back with the Vampires but his recent move to Mono Thewphaingarm is the closest they will get for now.
The move was not shocking, having been hinted and rumored in the Thailand Basketball scene for a while. It finally came true when McClain arrived in Thailand on October 14th. He would attend the Mono Thewphaingarm practice a few days later.
It is known that the Mono Vampires and Mono Thewphaingarm are affiliates and McClain’s familiarity with the organization should make the transition a lot more easier.
We could see McClain back in action as soon as mid-November. Mono Thewphaingarm might participate in an unconfirmed pocket tournament that could also consist of Mono Vampires, San Miguel Beermen, Phoenix Fuelmasters, and KL Dragons. At latest, there will be the Thailand Basketball Super League (TBSL) which is set at a tentative schedule from January to April.

ครั้งสุดท้ายที่ แมคเคลนเล่นที่เมืองไทยนั้น เขาเล่นไปใน TBL สองฤดูกาล และ ABL หนึ่งฤดูกาล ในสองฤดูกาลที่เล่นใน TBL นั้น เขาทำไป 12.8 แต้ม 10.4 รีบาวด์ และ 2.8 บล็อค
เขาเป็นเสาหลักของทีมในช่วงเริ่มแรกที่ก่อตั้งจนได้ที่ 3 ในการร่วมลีกครั้งแรก จนมาได้แชมป์ในปีถัดมา ในปีที่ได้แชมป์นั้น แมคเคลนยังได้เป็น ผู้เล่นทรงคุณค่ารอบชิง อีกด้วยที่เขาทำไป 11.0 แต้ม 10.8 รีบาวด์ และ 2.0 บล็อค

พอไปเล่นใน ABL ที่มีกฏการจำกัดผู้เล่น World Import ต่างจาก TBL แมคเคลนก็สามารถลงเล่นได้มากขึ้น ทำให้ดขาทำเฉลี่ยได้ 18.2 แต้ม 13.9 รีบาวด์ และ 2.9 บล็อค
อย่างไรก็ตาม โมโน แวมไพร์ ก็ชนะได้เพียง 4 เกมเท่านั้นในฤดูกาลนั้น
ตลอดช่วงที่เขาเล่นอยู่กับ โมโน แวมไพร์นั้น แมคเคลน หรือ “บิ๊กกี้” เป็นที่รักของแฟนๆ ด้วยบุคลิกนิสันขี้เล่นเป็นกันเองที่อาจจะดูขัดกับรูปลักษณ์ภายนอก
แฟนๆ หลายๆ คนบ่นคิดถึงแมคเคลน และ อยากเห็นเขากลับมารวมทัพกับ โมโน แวมไพร์ อีกครั้ง แต่สำหรับตอนนี้ สิ่งที่ใกล้เคียงที่สุดที่ทำได้คือการมารวมทัพกับ โมโนทิวไผ่งาม
การย้ายตัวมาครั้งนี้ อาจจะไม่ค่อยหวือหวา หรือ แปลกตาแปลกใจเท่าไหร่นัก เนื่องจากเป็นที่คาดการณ์ในวงการมานานพอสมควรแล้ว แมคเคลนเดินทางมาถึงเมืองไทยวันที่ 14 ตุลาคม และ ไปเข้าร่วมซ้อมกับ โมโนทิวไผ่งามภายในไม่กี่วันถัดมา
ความสัมพันธ์ที่ใกล้ชิดกันระหว่างสโมสรโมโน แวมไพร์ และ โมโนทิวไผ่งาม ค่อนข้างที่จะเหมือนพี่น้องกันอยู่แล้ว เพราะฉะนั้น ความคุ้นเคยในองค์กรน่าจะทำให้ แมคเคลนปรับตัวได้ไม่ยากนัก
เราอาจจะได้เห็นแมคเคลนลงสนามได้อย่างเร็วที่สุดช่วงกลางเดือน พฤศจิกายน ที่ ลือ ว่าจะมีการแข่งขันทัวร์เมนต์สั้นๆ ที่มีทางในเครือ โมโน (โมโน แวมไพร์, โมโนทิวไผง่าม) และ ทีมจากฟิลิปปินส์ (ซานมิเกล เบียร์เมน, ฟินิกซ์ ฟูเอลมาสเตอร์ส) กับ ทีมจากมาเลเซีย (เคแอล ดรากอนส์) อย่างช้าที่สุด เราน่าจะได้เห็น แมคเคลน โลดแล่นใน ไทยแลนด์บาสเกตบอลซุปเปอร์ลีก (TBSL) ที่วางแผนคร่าวๆ ว่าจะจัดช่วงมกราคมถึงเมษายน ปีหน้า
