Alli Austria had a more than forgettable season with the Pacquiao Powervit Pilipinas Aguilas/MX3 Kings last season, but that is all in the rear view mirror now as he might be joining the Singapore Slingers for this upcoming season.

Austria has been spotted in recent picture posts by the Singapore Slingers participating in their off-season preparation .
The low resolution isn’t really convincing and Austria (first row, second from right) looks a bit more dark-toned as I remember, but his tattoos certainly match.
The Slingers posted a better picture earlier, with Austria (far left) in full Slinger gear, participating in the team’s sponsorship event.
No official announcement of a signing from both sides have been released yet, but with the ASEAN Basketball League coming up quickly, chances are that the Austria/Slingers signing will be finalized soon.
Austria was drafted in the 5th round of the 2015 PBA Draft by Mahindra Enforcers, but never signed a contract. He was picked up by the MX3 Kings as a Heritage import. Playing only 13.1 minutes in 13 games, Austria didn’t get much of a chance to exhibit his skill set. He averaged only 2.9 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists.
It was first speculated that Filipino Jeff Viernes would serve as the Slingers’ ASEAN import this season when he played for them in the Merlion Cup.
Viernes is now back in the Philippines and not with the Slingers at this moment, so a return looks unlikely. This supports the probability of Austria signing as the Slingers’ lone ASEAN Import.
While Austria might not be as flashy and explosive as some of the other ASEAN Imports in the ABL, he seemingly fits a mold of the protypical Slingers’ ASEAN Import. Similarily to Fil-Am Kris Rosales who played for the Slingers last season, Austria can fit in as a supporting role that can step up in crucial moments.
Only time will tell if Austria will indeed sign with the Slingers and if he will fit in. The Slingers are set kickoff the ABL season in late November.
