In the first part of the TBL 2016 Post-Season Awards we covered the stingiest defenders (Defensive Players of the Year), the most impressive foreign commodities (Most Outstanding World & ASEAN Imports), and the potential future of Thailand Basketball (Fresh Five). Let’s kick it up a notch in Part Two!

Before we head into that, here’s a disclaimer’s note that basically just means “this is my opinion and if you don’t like it, /shrugs”
DISCLAIMER NOTE: I enjoyed doing this and I love sharing my opinions on the basketball scene here. But once again, these are my own personal opinions. I am not a certified basketball expert in any terms. I am just someone who loves basketball. So if in anyway you disagree with my opinions, do feel free to share your own opinions as well because all I want is to start an ongoing conversation about the basketball community in their respective regions.
Now that we have all of that out of the way, let’s get down to business!
TBL 2016 Post-Season Awards: All-TBL Second Team
Before I reveal you the names and everyone starts over-reacting to everything…I just want to say that all very tough decisions to make. I moved guys up and down. I crossed names off and wrote them back on again. I did this over and over and over again. I seemed to have a small excuse for everyone that made the shortlist to be on the post-season All-TBL teams.
But in the end, decisions had to be made.
Here are your All-TBL Second Team:
Danai Kongkum, Madgoats
Pairach Sekteera, Mono Vampires
Wuttipong Dasom, Hitech
Tyler Lamb, Hitech
Tawatchai Sukthub, Mono Thewphaingarm
That’s a nice group there. Let’s start with Danai Kongkum, who if you remember, was Tones & Definition’s TBL 2015 MVP.
Danai Kongkum: 10.3 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 1.0 Steals
Kongkum returned from his loan from Hitech to the Madgoats and did pretty much the same things. The results were a bit different however and they were a bit surprising for me. Kongkum took the same shots at almost the same rate (11.6 FGA/g in 2015, 10.8 FGA/g in 2016) but his efficiency plummeted all the way from 49.1 FG% to 39.3%. You’d think that playing with the Madgoats who had Morgan/Rolle to draw away defenders would make life even easier for Kongkum but it didn’t turn out to be like that. My personal assumption is that the ball moved more at Hitech last season (when they didn’t have a legit isolation threat) making jump shooters like Kongkum set themselves easier. With the Madgoats, the offense involved a lot of penetration and kick outs from Morgan and Rolle. Not to say this is bad, but it just seems like it didn’t work as well as it could have been for Kongkum. Even with that production drop, Kongkum was a legit third/fourth option threat for the Madgoats who got things done. Just ask the Vampires, who Kongkum dropped 23 points and 15 rebounds on in their second regular season matchup.
Pairach Sekteera: 11.0 PPG, 2.8 RPG, 49.5 FG%, 44.0 3P%, 83.3 FT%, 54.7 eFG%
Pairach Sekteera didn’t make any Tones & Definitions post-season teams last year but he was on the TBL official first team. This year, he gets respect from me by making the second team. It didn’t come easy though. Sekteera started this season badly, averaging only 4.3 points in the first four games. His minutes went from 15 to 17 to 9 to 2. But from the 5th game onwards, the Vampires stopped using the DeVaughn Washington/Josh Crawford import duo and Sekteera went on a tear. Since the change, Sekteera scored 14.4 points per game on 50.0 FG%. After never going to the free throw line once in his first four games, Sekteera averaged 2.3 FTA since. The biggest and most significant improvement from last year has been his three point shooting. Sekteera has been shooting 44.0% from downtown (a huge jump from 25% last year) while actually taking more attempts. Maybe it’s the number change (from 24 to 9) or maybe it’s newly wed luck (belated congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Sekteera) but whatever the case, Sekteera added a new aspect to his game this season.
Sekteera’s biggest game was also the game that turned things around for the Vampires when he scored 27 points and shot 4/6 from three point land to beat the Dunkin Raptors.
Wuttipong Dasom: 12.1 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 1.2 APG, 79.2 FT%
Since Wuttipong Dasom has played such a huge role for Hitech in the past two ABL seasons, it’s kind of hard to recall that he missed the entire regular season of the TBL in 2015. It was going to be hard to standout on offense in this year’s Hitech squad with Freddie Lish, Tyler Lamb, and Keala King but Dasom did just that. Dasom returned from a season ending injury in the ABL and he looked completely changed, for better or worse. Dasom looked more aggressive in attacking the basket, especially off the dribble. It was wild early on in the season and there were a lot of questionable decision makings, but he seemed to get it together towards the end of the season to average 12.1 points per game. Shooting 39.0 FG% might not be good enough yet (especially when he’s shooting 19.5% on 2.9 three point attempts per game), but his improvement on the charity stripe (79.2%) is certainly refreshing. Dasom still brings a solid all-around game with 4.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists, further solidifying his status as Hitech’s present and future.
Dasom is one of 12 players (5 locals) to drop at least 30 points this season, when he scored 30 points on the Dunkin Raptors.
Tyler Lamb: 17.0 PPG, 4.2 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.2 Steals, 6.8 TOV%
Tyler Lamb was another one of the 5 locals to top 30 points when he torched the Raptors (…wait, AGAIN?) defense for 31 points.
Lamb’s rookie season was a large bag of mixed emotions. A volume scorer in the truest sense, Lamb led the team in points (17.0), field goal attempts (19.4), and minutes played (25.7). Of course, taking 19 attempts to get 17 is pretty bad, and that’s been the negative feedback surrounding Lamb.
“Ballhog.”
Lamb goes through spurts of questionable shot selection sometimes and that hasn’t really rubbed fans off the right way. In addition to that, he flashes immaturity, especially since he is easily frustrated and provoked. Then again, you might be frustrated too if you went from being a “Lamb” to a “Lamp”:
These might seem like major red flags…but it’s not something we have never seen. Let’s compare Moses Morgan (a fellow half-Thai from NCAA Division 1 basketball) in his rookie season with Tyler Lamb’s rookie season:
Rookie Lamb: 17.0 PPG, 19.4 FGA, 32.0 FG%, 25.7 MPG
Rookie Morgan: 16.9 PPG, 19.9 FGA, 31.8 FG%, 37.7 MPG
Look at how eerily similar those numbers are. And that was with Morgan playing almost a solid 12 more minutes! Lamb was more efficient making threes (28.3% vs 16.7%) while Morgan was more effective getting to the line (5.9 FTA/g vs 2.4 FTA/g). If Lamb can figure this overseas professional basketball player life out, maybe we can see him make a similar jump like Morgan did this year (…more on him later). Despite all the negativity, Lamb was still one of the best scorers and an underrated play-maker in the TBL this season, especially when he felt like it. And that’s why he’s here on the All-TBL second team.
Tawatchai Sukthub: 12.9 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 42.2 eFG%
Tawatchai Sukthub finally made it. It took him a while, but he finally cracked into Tones & Definition’s All-TBL post-season award teams.
I know it’s still unofficial and all, but I guess it counts for something.
I’ve always been an admirer of Sukthub’s game since he was crucially underrated in that TBL 2014 Madgoats Championship squad. I made it clear that I had wished to have seen him on the SEA Games 2015 squad. He took a seat back to Chitchai Ananti and Nopporn Saengthong in Mono Thewphaingarm’s run to the Finals last year, but make no mistake, he was one of the most important part of that team without a doubt. With Ananti gone from the Mono Thew camp (…more on him later) and without an ASEAN Import quota, the team needed someone to step up. Along with Nattakarn Meungboon (…more on him later too), Sukthub rose to the occasion. His efficiency took a hit (dropped from 48.5 eFG% to 42.2 eFG%) but that’s what happens when you double the amount of shots you take in one game. His 12.9 points per game were 4th most among locals in the TBL this year. Sukthub has a nice all-around game and can play a solid stretch 4 position with range out to the three point line (23.1%) while also being able to do the dirty work (5.2 rebounds). From time to time, he still struggles a bit from being a tweener (too small to stay in post, not fast enough to always stay on perimeter).
Despite all of that, he’s done a really good job improving year after year.
So that was the Tones & Definition All-TBL Second Team of 2016. No matter how impressive they were, (in my honest opinion) there were 5 more players who were (if ever so slightly) more impressive. I’m sure every single person that is in the TBL has played their hearts out (all 131 players), but in the end, I have to give respect where it is due.
And here’s where it’s due. Here are your All-TBL First Team:
Kannut Samerjai, Mono Vampires
Freddie Lish, Hitech
Nattakarn Meungboon, Mono Thewphaingarm
Chitchai Ananti, Mono Vampires
Moses Morgan, Madgoats
I know what you’re thinking. Where are all of our big men?
I had some thoughts about that and I’ll tell you right now and here that I had a tough time cutting out legit bigs like Sukdave Ghogar and Nopporn Saengthong out of the post-season teams. Still, it’s undeniable that the level of perimeter play in Thailand has been in top form hence why these post-season teams are filled with perimeter players.
Kannut Samerjai: 10.7 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 2.8 APG, 1.4 Steals, 15.6 AST%
Let’s start out with Kannut Samerjai. Samerjai ended up on last year’s official All-TBL first team, which I personally found a bit interesting. While he did have a decent season, Samerjai shared point guard duties heavily with Nattakarn Meungboon and Sorot Sunthornsiri under Coach Prasert Siripojankul’s reign, playing only 18.7 minutes per game.
With the changes that the Vampires went through (coaching change and Meungboon transfer) Samerjai was free to roam a bit more. Like Sekteera (as mentioned above), Samerjai had a rough start to the season, scoring only 5.3 points per game and never exceeding double digit scoring in the first four games. Since the changes to the lineup, Samerjai went on to score 13.1 points per game. He seemed to take charge at the end of the season (and during the playoffs) as he looked more aggressive to make things happen on offense.
Right now, I feel that Samerjai is indeed the best homegrown all-around offensive talent in Thailand but it also depends on how he is feeling. When he feels like it, Samerjai looks like he can create a shot at will either for himself or his team mate. When he’s out of it, he can come off as passive.
He found a way to keep motivated and played awesome enough to warrant a spot on this post-season team.
Freddie Lish: 10.2 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 2.0 APG, 35.5 3P%, 49.2 eFG%
Freddie Lish (formerly known as Freddie Goldstein) is one of the most laid back person in the TBL. He’s always smiling on the court, always shaking hands, apologizing, accepting apologies, and chitchatting. Add that in by how effortless he makes everything look and you kind of take the things that he actually does for granted. He just makes things look so easy, you kind of just shrug it off and say “Well, that’s just so typical Freddie”.
Shot selection and scoring efficiency was a concern coming out of the ABL season for Lish, but Lish shot a strong 35.5% from downtown. That would good for 7th best in the TBL. However…while it was magical to watch Lish get his small frame in the paint, he had a hard time getting an ideal shot off and that effected his efficiency.
Here’s the thing about Lish that pushed him over his peers in the All-TBL second team: defense. When Lish decides to pressure the ball handler, it’s just so suffocating to watch. Lish moves his feet very quickly, stays low, and just hounds you until you have to awkwardly pass the ball or lose control of it.
There are still some questionable issues concerning Lish, like his fluctuation of minutes or some moments where he just seems too chill. Still, his entire body of work and just the downright extraordinary things he can do on the court is enough to grant him a spot on the prestigious Tones & Definition All-TBL First Team.
Nattakarn Meungboon: 10.9 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 2.5 APG, 2.2 Steals
FINALLY!
Two years ago (during TBL 2014), I personally had Nattakarn Meungboon as my MVP (no offense to Sorot Sunthornsiri, who won the official MVP award that year). He steered a ridiculously talented Madgoats team to a title by distributing the ball all around to everyone. He didn’t score much and he didn’t really need to, but it was obvious how important he was to the offense.
The next year, we saw Meungboon moving to the Mono Vampires to lead another highly talented team. The problem? He had to share point guard duties with two other high level point guards (Samerjai and Sorot Sunthornsiri). Meungboon had his moments, but being a ball dominant point guard playing alongside two other ball dominant point guards was never going to be a good idea.
His move back to Mono Thewphaingarm has all the right signs of big things to come. It would be a reunion with his first coach, on his first professional team right at the moment when they needed someone to take the helm.
It was fun seeing Meungboon in a “screw you” mode as the lead offensive option of the team. His efficiency took a hit but it meant that we got to see Meungboon take big shot after big shot for Mono Thewphaingarm, making quite a number along the way as well.
We got to see Meungboon as the heart and soul of his team for a change this year (no offense to to Tawatchai Sukthub but this really was Meungboon’s team) and I think he did more than enough to convince me that he can be a star.
Chitchai Ananti: 16.3 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 1.4 Steals, 37.3 3P%, 80.0 FT%
Speaking of stars…
The more Ananti keeps playing, the less you feel like he’s reaching his potential. Ananti was awesome enough as was last year as the lead scorer for Mono Thewphaingarm but people forget that he had a surprise factor going for him. Few teams expect much from him or Mono Thew going into the season and even when they made it to the Finals, people were still surprised.
Coming in this year, Ananti transferred to the defneding champions, the Mono Vampires. Every team had seen him from last year’s performance, from his ABL performance, and from his National Team performance. Everyone knew what to expect this time.
Naturally, Ananti would just go on out an top his career high with 31 points against the Madgoats (No.2 Playoff Seed) in the 4th game of the season, only to top that career high with a season ending 41 points against Hitech (No.1 Playoff seed).
His offense extended from being just a slashing threat with those go-go gadget arms to being a dead-eye three point shooter as well. His 37.3% was 4th best in the league.
The best thing about Ananti is that despite all that we have seen this year, you can just sort of feel like he just has so much more potential to fulfill.
Maybe any other season, Ananti would be a shoo-on for the Most Outstanding Player award.
TBL 2016 Post-Season Awards: Most Improved Player
This has been such a good year for basketball in Thailand. There were so many story-lines from so many players to pick apart.
For me, I think the return of Moses Morgan to redeem himself in the TBL after a bad taste in the first year was probably one of the best.
So…
Wait, let me set this up properly.
TBL 2016 Post-Season Awards: Most Outstanding Player
Ladies & Gentlemen, the final member of the All-TBL First Team, Tones & Definition’s TBL 2016 Most Improved Player, and Tones & Definition TBL 2016 Most Outstanding Player:
Moses Morgan, Madgoats
Moses Morgan: 25.5 PPG, 8.6 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.0 Steals, 36.8 3P%
Let’s start with Morgan’s improvement from last season.
Moses Morgan, TBL 2015: 37.7 MPG, 16.9 PPG, 8.2 RPG, 16.7 3P%, 3.1 TO/g, 2.3 Fl/g
Moses Morgan, TBL 2016: 33.4 MPG, 25.5 PPG, 8.6 RPG, 36.8 3P%, 1.9 TO/g, 1.6 Fl/g
Keep in mind that a large part of his team mates are the same batch that played with him at PEA last year. In fewer minutes, Morgan scored almost 9 more points per game. Shot selection seemed to have been his Achilles heel last year and after getting some more experience in the ABL with the Saigon Heat, he came back with a better understanding. The results have been very impressive.
Morgan has six (?!?!) 30 point games this season and 4 games making 5 or more three pointers, both more than anyone else has done this year. His refined shooting touch from outside has made it easier for him to penetrate inside and finish or draw fouls. He’s also upped his free throw conversation rate from 56.6% to 64.9%.
Sure, you can say that Morgan was in a much better situation that he was last year. I would totally agree with that, as I wrote:
I still stand by my theory that Moses was thrown into a system that didn’t suit his game entirely.
It wouldn’t be wrong to say that his production is result of the teams system, but it would be wrong to not give credit to the work he has done to improve himself.
Here’s a look at Morgan’s key stats and how they stack up with the league just to get one more look at how outstanding he has really been.

36.8 3P% (5th Overall)
8.2 rebounds (7th Overall, 2nd among Locals)

It’s been another fun season in the Thailand Basketball League! Sadly…it’s all coming to a close soon. By the time this will be published, it seems like the TBL Finals will be between Hitech and the Mono Vampires, the first time these two teams have ever played in the TBL playoffs against each other.
The 17 players I have mentioned here, needed some officially unofficial recognition for their performances. They worked hard to be the best of the best throughout the course of 14 games and I just felt it wouldn’t be right if they didn’t get acknowledged for that. And not only those 17, but all 131 players who participated as well. All the coaches, all the staff on both the teams and the organizers. Everyone deserves a little bit of recognition for the work that they’ve done. So here it is.

I’m just going to quickfire my thoughts. Note that I have no obligations against any of the recipients. Everyone completely deserves their awards. Still, I had a few thoughts swimming in my head, just as I know you do, too. :
- Everyone wins for Best Smile.
- Those are really shiny trophies. I love it.
- I’m trying to wrap my head around the logic of the MVP not being one of the best at his position. Or does Magnum Rolle not play in one of the traditional five positions? Or is Justin Howard a better Center but Rolle is just more valuable to his team?
- Why does Avery Scharer have a Moray Eel wrapped around his head?
- I can’t tell if Freddie is receiving the trophy or handing it over.
- Magnum Rolle is smiling like he just placed a prank and is waiting for it to unfold.
- Magnum Rolle also has the best shorts ever.
- Justin Howard has the most seductive smile out of everyone. Never saw that coming.
- Notice how Samerjai stays true to his Asian blood by sneakily pulling out the cute peace sign. Kudos.
- HOW THE HELL DID ANATI NOT MAKE THE CUT?
- The award committee have either got to figure out the players positions correctly or just straight out give it the 5 best players (aka Mythical 5, Best 5, All-TBL, etc.) regardless of position. You can’t have Samerjai winning the award for Best Point Guard last year and win it as Best Small Forward this year. Picture for reference:
I truly have no objection with Samerjai being on the Best 5 (as you can see that I have him in my All-TBL First Team), but it would have been less controversial if he wasn’t pegged as a Small Forward.
And for all of his awesomeness, Moses Morgan is not a Power Forward. - By the way, what happened to the MVP award last year?
- Mixing up locals and imports in this award makes it highly frustrating when a guy like Jeff Viernes doesn’t make the cut.
- Chitchai Ananti not making the cut is just cold though, seriously. I don’t mean to say that he should take someone’s place, but they could have at least made one extra spot for him.
- The point of this rant is that…these awards might seem like small issues, but they really aren’t. These are things that create a story for players. So they should be handed out with a lot of consideration. This isn’t just something that can be handed out and just be gone with. These things stick with a player for their careers.
People might look back at this season one day and wonder what the hell happened with Chitchai Ananti and why wasn’t he on the Best 5 team. These players are the face of the league until the next season. 10 years later, when a random Thai basketball fan decides to look up what happened in the TBL 2016, these are the guys that are representing the best of the best.
While each of them completely deserve their awards as I mentioned earlier, I just wanted to emphasize that these awards are a big deal. These awards can have much more value, just if we decide to make it that way. - Chitchai Ananti can be the Best Long Forward for all I care, he deserves some recognition.

ก่อนที่ผมจะเปิดเผยสมาชิกแต่ละท่านของทีมชุดนี้ และท่านผู้อ่านที่ร่ารักทุกท่านจะแตกตื่นกับรายชื่อของแต่ละคน ผมอยากจะบอกก่อนว่า การเลือกแต่ละคนผมใช้เวลาในการตัดสินใจนานมาก ผมสลับสับเปลี่ยนย้ายชื่อคนนู้นออก คนนี้เข้า จนปวดหัว พอจะตัดใครออกที ก็เหมือนมีติ่งสะกิดใจลึกๆ ว่า “เฮ้ย ไอ้นี่มันก็ควรจะติด เพราะ งี้ๆๆๆๆ”
แต่ท้ายที่สุดแล้ว ชีวิตก็ต้องก้าวต่อไปและเราก็ต้องตัดสินใจ เพื่อให้ไม่ย่ำอยู่กับที่

ก็ถือว่าเป็นกลุ่มที่ดูดีเท่ๆ เลย
มาเริ่มกันที่ “นัย” ดนัย คงคุ้ม ก่อนเลยดีกว่า ซึ่งเขาก็เป็น ผู้เล่นยอดเยี่ยมของ Tones & Definition’s เมื่อปีที่แล้ว
ดนัย คงคุ้ม: 10.3 แต้ม, 6.0 รีบาวด์, 1.0 สตีล
ปีที่แล้ว ดนัย ได้ไปเล่นกับทีมไฮเทคด้วยสัญญายืมตัว กลับมาปีนี้ ก็ยังไม่ได้โชว์อะไรแตกต่างไปจากเดิมมากนัก กลับกลายเป็นสถิติที่แตกต่างไปจากเดิมเล็กน้อยและน่าประหลาดใจพอสมควร
อัตราการยิงของดนัยถือว่ายังคงที่พอสมควร (จาก นิง 11.6 ครั้งต่อเกมใน 2015 เป็น 10.8 ครั้งต่อเกมใน 2016) แต่กลับเป็นประสิทธิภาพในการยิงลงที่ลดฮวบฮาบลงมาแทน จากที่ปีที่แล้วยิงลง 49.1% ปีนี้กลับยิงลง แค่ 39.3% ในมุมมองส่วนตัว ตอนแรกผมนึกว่าการที่ได้มาอยู่กับแมดโกทส์ ที่มีตัวล่อเป้าอย่าง โมเสส มอร์แกน และ แมกนัม โรลล์ อยู่แล้ว น่าจะทำให้ชีวิตในการตั้งป้อมยิงของ ดนัย ง่ายมากขึ้น แต่มันกลับไม่เป็นอย่างที่คิด
ถ้าให้ผมสันนิษฐาน ผมว่า การเคลื่อนบอลของทีมไฮเทคปีที่แล้วลื่นไหลกว่า (เพราะไฮเทคปีที่แล้วไม่มีตัวที่เล่นเดี่ยวๆ ได้อย่างโดดเด่น) จึงทำให้บอลไหลเข้าจังหวะจั๊มป์ยิงของดนัยได้ดีกว่า พอมาเล่นที่แมดโกทส์ กลายเป็นว่ารูปแบบเกมบุกส่วนใหญ่เป็นการทะวงของ แมกนัม/โมเสส แล้วดีดออกมา และมันอาจจะเป็นอะไรที่ไม่ชิน หรือ ไม่เหมาะกับการยิงของดนัย
อย่างไรก็ตาม ถึงแม้ว่าความแม่นในการยิงจะลดลงจากปีที่แล้ว แต่ดนัยก็ยังเป็นตัวบุกที่ 3/4 ที่มีประสิทธิภาพสูงสำหรับทีมแมดโกทส์
ลองถาม โมโน แวมไพร์ ก็ได้ เพราะทีมค้างคาวอมตะก็โดนไป 23 แต้ม และ 15 รีบาว์ด ในเกมที่ทั้งสองทีมเจอกันครั้งที่สองซะด้วย
Pไพรัช เสกธีระ: 11.0 แต้ม, 2.8 รีบาวด์, 49.5 FG%, 44.0 3P%, 83.3 FT%, 54.7 eFG%
ปีที่แล้ว ถึงแม้ว่า “แวน” ไพรัช เสกธีระ จะไม่ติดทีมห้าผู้เล่นยอดเยี่ยม ของ Tones & Definitions แต่ก็ติดทีมของ TBL …ซึ่งดูๆ ไปแล้ว คงมีค่ามากกว่า
ปีนี้ ไพรัช กลับมาอีกครั้งด้วยความมุ่งมั่น และก็ได้ติดทีมห้าผู้เล่นยอดเยี่ยมชุดสองของ Tones & Definitions ซักที!!! แต่ก็ไม่ใช่อะไรที่ได้มาง่ายๆ เลย ปีนี้ ไพรัช ออกตัวได้ไม่ค่อยดีเท่าไหร่นักกับ โมโน แวมไพร์ โดยทำเฉลี่ยแค่ 4.3 แต้มใน 4 เกมแรก เวลาลงสนามของเขาขึ้นๆ ลงๆ จาก 15 เป็น 7 เป็น 9 จนมาถึงจุดตกต่ำที่ 2 นาที แต่ในที่สุด หลังจากนั้น ทางโมโน แวมไพร์ ก็ได้เปลี่ยนเอาชุดอิมพอร์ต เดวอน วอชิงตัน/จอช ครอว์ฟอร์ด ออกไป และ ไพรัช ก็เหมือนตัวลุกเป็นไฟขึ้นมาทันที
ตั้งแต่การเปลี่ยนตัวผู้เล่นต่างชาติชุดนั้นออก ไพรัชทำไป 14.4 แต้มต่อเกม อีกทั้งยังยิง 50.0% อีกด้วย จากที่ไม่ได้ยิงลูกโทษเลยแม้แต่ครั้งเดียวใน 4 เกมแรก เขากลับมาเฉลี่ยยิงลูกโทษเกมละ 2.3 ครั้ง
สิ่งที่เปลี่ยนแปลงพัฒนาไปมากที่สุดสำหรับไพรัช คือ การยิงสามแต้ม ซึ่งในปีนี้ ไพรัช ยิงลงด้วยความแม่นยำ 44.0% (ซึ่งเพิ่มมาจาก 25% ในปีที่แล้วมากพอสมควร) ทั้งๆ มีจำนวนการยิงมากขึ้นด้วยซ้ำ บางที อาจจะเป็นเพราะเปลี่ยนเบอร์เสื้อ (จาก 24 มาเป็น 9) หรือบางที อาจจะเป็นพลังงานลึกลับของคู่ข้าวใหม่ปลามัน (ยินดีด้วยกับพี่ไพรัชและภริยาย้อนหลังสำหรับการสมรสด้วยนะครับ)
แต่ไม่ว่าจะเพราะเหตุผลอะไรก็ตาม ต้องยอมรับว่าปีนี้ ไพรัช ก้าวขึ้นมาอีกระดับนึงจริงๆ
เกมที่เล่นออกมาได้โดดเด่นที่สุด ก็คงไม่พ้นเกมที่ ไพรัช ทำไป 27 แต้ม ซึ่งมีการยิงสามแต้มลง 4 ลูกจากการยิง 6 ครั้ง เอาชนะ ดังกิน แรพเตอร์ส ไป
วุฒิพงษ์ ดาโสม: 12.1 แต้ม, 4.4 รีบาวด์, 1.2 แอสสิสต์, 79.2 FT%
จริงๆ แล้วมันก็เป็นเรื่องเหลือเชื่อที่ใน TBL ตลอดทั้งปีที่แล้ว เราแทบจะไม่ได้เห็น “รูเบน” วุฒิพงษ์ ดาโสม เล่นเลย ทั้งๆ ที่เขาเป็นตัวหลักของไฮเทคตลอดช่วงการแข่ง ABL สองฤดูกาลที่ผ่านมา มาในปีนี้ ก็นึกว่าจะเป็นเรื่องยากที่จะโชว์ฟอร์มได้อย่างโดดเด่นด้วยการที่มีทั้ง เฟรดดี้ ลิช, ไทเลอร์ แลมบ์, และ คีอาล่า คิง…แต่ วุฒิพงษ์ ก็ทำผลงานออกมาได้ดีพอสมควร หลังจากที่ไปฟิตซ่อมร่างกายที่บาดเจ็บไปช่วงปลายฤดูกาล ABL ที่ผ่านมา การเล่นของวุฒิพงษ์ดูแตกต่างออกไปจากเดิมไม่ใช่น้อย
เขาดูเหมือนจะมีความดุดันในการเข้าหาห่วงมากขึ้น ยิ่งโดยเฉพาะในจังหวะที่เลี้ยงลูกเข้าไปเอง ซึ่งตอนช่วงต้นๆ ฤดูกาลก็มีรูปแบบที่ยังเก้ๆ กังๆ และ ดูฝืนๆ แต่ช่วงปลายๆฤดูกาลก็ดูเหมือนว่าขัดเกลาขึ้นมาได้มาก มากพอที่จะทำเฉลี่ยได้ถึง 12.1 แต้มต่อเกม การที่มีอตราความแม่นยำเพียง 39.0% อาจจะไม่ดีเท่าไหร่นัก (ยิ่งยิงสามแต้มเพียง 19.5% จากการยิง 2.9 ครั้งต่อเกม ยิ่งแล้วใหญ่) แต่การที่การยิงลูกโทษของเขาพัฒนาขึ้นมามาก (79.2%) ก็เป็นสัญญาณที่ค่อนข้างดี
รวมๆ แล้ว วุฒิพงษ์ ก็ยังคงมีความครบเครื่อง แถมอีก 4.4 รีบาวด์ และ 1.2 แอสสิสต์ ทำให้ วุฒิพงษ์ ยังคงมีสถานะเป็นทั้งตัวหลักในอนาคต และ ปัจจุบัน ของไฮเทค เหมือนเดิม
นอกจากนี้แล้ว วุฒิพงษ์ ยังเป็น หนึ่งใน 12 คน (และ หนึ่ง ใน 5 คนไทย) ที่ทำได้อย่างน้อย 30 แต้มใน 1 เกมในฤดูกาลนี้ ซึ่ง วุฒิพงษ์ ทำไปได้ในเกมที่เจอกับ ดังกิ้น แรพเตอร์ส
ไทเลอร์ แลมบ์: 17.0 แต้ม, 4.2 รีบาวด์, 2.0 แอสสิสต์, 1.2 สตีล, อัตราการเทิร์นโอเวอร์ 6.8%
นอกจาก วุฒิพงษ์ ก็มี ไทเลอร์ แลมบ์ ที่เป็นผู้เล่นชาวไทยอีกคนที่ทำไม่น้อยกว่า 30 แต้มใน 1 เกมปีนี้ ในเกมที่เขาจัดการถล่ม ดังกิน แรพเตอร์ส (…เฮ้ย พวกนายอีกแล้วหรอ) ด้วยการทำไป 31 แต้ม
ปีนี้ เป็นปีแรกของ แลมบ์ใน TBL และ แน่นอนว่า มันก็มีขึ้นมีลงตามสภาพ ในปีนี้ ไทเลอร์ถือว่าเป็นคนที่ทำแต้มแบบ “เน้นปริมาณ” มากกว่า “เน้นคุณภาพ” ไทเลอร์ทำไป 17.0 แต้มต่อเกม แต่ก็ยิงไปถึง 19.4 ครั้งต่อเกมเช่นเดียวกัน อีกทั้งยังลงเล่น 25.7 นาทีต่อเกม ซึ่งสูงที่สุดในทีมไฮเทคทั้ง 3 สถิติ
ซึ่งการที่ใช้โอกาสการยิงถึง 19.4 ครั้งต่อเกมในการทำ 17.0 แต้ม ทำให้เกิดกระแสเชิงลบออกมาบางๆ แว่วๆ เช่น
“บาสชายเดี่ยว”
มีหลายครั้งที่ไทเลอร์ยังมีการตัดสินใจที่จะเลือกยิงในจังหวะแปลกๆ อยู่บ้าง และบางทีมันก็ทำให้แฟนๆ งงและไม่พอใจ นอกจากนี้แล้วยังมีบางครั้งที่ไทเลอร์ยังมีอาการที่แสดงออกถึงความไม่มีวุฒิภาวะ บางทีก็ถูกสะกิดต่อและยั่วยุได้ง่ายมาก
แต่บางที ถ้าชื่อของคุณถูกเปลี่ยนจาก แลมบ์ (ที่แปลว่า แกะ) เป็น แลมป์ (ที่แปลว่า ตะเกียง) คุณก็อาจจะมีหัวเสียบ้างแหละ:
สิ่งต่างๆ เหล่านี้ อาจจะดูเป็นสัญญาณที่ไม่ค่อยดี…แต่อย่าลืมว่า นี่ไม่ใช่อะไรที่แฟนๆ บาสชาวไทยไม่เคยเห็นมาก่อน ปีที่แล้ว เราก็เคยเห็น โมเสส มอร์แกน (ซึ่งเป็นลูกครึ่งไทยที่โตมาในระบบบาสอเมริกันมาเช่นเดียวกัน) มาลองเทียบสถิติของทั้งสองคนในปีแรกกับ TBL ของทั้งคู่ดีกว่า:
ไทเลอร์ รุกกี้: 17.0 แต้ม, ยิง 19.4 ครั้งต่อเกม, 32.0 FG%, 25.7 นาที
โมเสส รุกกี้: 16.9 แต้ม, ยิง 19.9 ครั้งต่อเกม, 31.8 FG%, 37.7 นาที
เอาจริงๆ บางทีก็หลอนๆ อยู่ว่าทำไมตัวเลขมันช่างละม้ายคล้ายคลึงขนาดนี้ แต่ก็ต้องไม่ลืมว่า นี่ขนาด โมเสส ลงเล่นมากกว่าถึง 12 นาทีต่อเกม! ถ้าเทียบกันในเชิงประสิทิภาพแล้ว ไทเลอร์จะได้เปรียบเรื่องการยอิงสามแต้ม (28.3% ต่อ 16.7%) แต่ มอร์แกนมีความสามารถในการดูดฟาวล์ไปยิงลูกโทษมากกว่า (5.9 FTA/g ต่อ 2.4 FTA/g) ประเด็นตรงนี้ คือ ถ้า ไทเลอร์ สามารถที่จะปรับตัวกับชีวิตนักบาสอาชีพได้อย่างเต็มที่ เราอาจจะได้เห็นพัฒนาการแบบก้าวกระโดดเหมือนอย่างที่เราเห็นผลงานของ โมเสส มอร์แกน ในปีนี้ (เดี๋ยวว่าเรื่อง โมเสส ต่อ)
แม้ว่าจะมีเสียงตอบรับเชิงลบแบบไหนออกมา แต่ ไทเลอร์ก็ยังได้รับการยอมรับว่าเป็นตัวทำคะแนนที่ดีที่สุดใน TBL คนหนึ่ง อีกทั้งยังเป็นคนที่สร้างสรรค์เกมได้ดีกว่าที่หลายๆ คนมองไว้ และนั่นคือเหตุผลว่า ทำไมเขาถึงติดทีม 5 ผู้เล่นยอดเยี่ยมชุดนี้
ธวัชชัย สุขทับ: 12.9 แต้ม, 5.2 รีบาวด์, ประสิทธิภาพการทำตะแนน 42.2 eFG%
ในที่สุด “เจ๋ง” ธวัชชัย สุขทับ ก็ก้าวมาถึงตรงนี้จนได้ ใช้เวลามาซักพัก แต่ในที่สุด เขาก็ได้มาติดทีม 5 ผู้เล่นยอดเยี่ยมจนได้ (…ถึงแม้ว่าจะเป็น ทีมสอง แล้วก็เป็นรางวัลที่ประกาศอย่างไม่เป็นทางการของสื่อเล็กๆ สื่อหนึ่งก็เถอะ)
ผมชื่นชอบเกมของ ธวัชชัย มาซักพักหนึ่งแล้วแหละ ใน TBL 2014 เขามักจะถูกมองข้ามตอนที่เล่นให้กับทีม แมดโกทส์ชุดแชมป์ปีนั้น ผมได้เขียนออกไปอย่างชัดเจนว่า อยากเห็น ธวัชชัย ติดทีมชาติชุดซีเกมส์ ที่สิงคโปร์ด้วย ปีที่แล้ว เขาเล่นเป็นบทรองจาก ชิดชัย อนันติ และ นพพร แสงทอง และร่วมมือกันพาทีม โมโน ทิวไผ่งาม เข้าชิงจนได้
ปีนี้ ชิดชัย ก็ได้ย้ายไปแล้ว (เดี๋ยวเรามาคุยเรื่อง ชิดชัย กันอีกซักครู่) แถม โมโน ทิวไผ่งามยังไม่ได้สิทธิในการเซ็นตัว ASEAN Import ทำให้ โมโน ทิวไผ่งาม อยู่ในสภาพที่ต้องการฮีโร่ที่จะลุกขึ้นมา นอกจาก “อาร์ม” ณัฐกานต์ เมืองบุญ (เดี๋ยวเราต้องคุยกันเรื่อง ณัฐกานต์ ด้วย) ก็มี ธวัชชัย คนนี้นี่แหละ ที่ก้าวขึ้นมาได้
ประสิทธิภาพในการทำแต้มของเขาตกลงไปหน่อยก็จริง (จาก 48.5 eFG% เหลือ 42.2 eFG%) แต่นั้นก็คือสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นได้เมื่อคุณเปลี่ยนบทบาทในทีมจนมีจำนวนยิงต่อเกมมากกว่าเดิมเกือบสองเท่า
ธวัชชัยทำไป 12.9 แต้มต่อเกม ซึ่งเป็นจำนวนแต้มที่สูงที่สุดเป็นอันดับที่ 4 ในบรรดาคนไทยด้วยกันปีนี้ ด้วยสกิลที่ค่อนข้างครบเครื่องและรอบด้าน ทำให้เขาเล่นได้หลายตำแหน่ง ไม่ว่าจะเป็นตัว Power Forward ที่ยิงระยะสามแต้มได้ (23.1%) อีกทั้งยังช่วยคลุกวงในเก็บรีบาวด์ได้ดีพอสมควร (5.2 รีบาวด์)
หลายๆ ครั้ง เขาอาจจะดูเหมือนมีปัญหากับการที่เป็นตัวกึ่งๆ (ช้าเกินกว่าจะบุกจากวงนอกตลอด เล็กเกินกว่าจะปักข้างใน)
แต่อย่างไรก็ตาม ปีนี้ เขาก็ก้าวขึ้นมาไกลจริงๆ
และนั้นก็คือ 5 ผู้เล่นยอดเยี่ยม ทีมสอง ของ Tones & Definition ประจำ TBL 2016 แต่ละคนเล่นได้อย่างสุดยอดก็จริง…แต่ในความคิดเห็นส่วนตัวของผม ยังมีอีกห้าคน ที่เล่นได้อย่างสุดติ่งกระดิ่งแมวมากกว่า
ผมเชื่อว่าผู้เล่นทั้ง 131 คนที่เล่นในฤดูกาลนี้ จะเล่นอย่างเต็มที่สุดความสามารถจริงๆ แต่ท้ายที่สุดแล้ว 5 คนต่อไปนี้นี่แหละ!!! ที่ผมมองว่า คือ ที่สุดของที่สุด

เออ ผมรู้ว่าคุณคิดอะไรกันอยู่ “เฮ้ย ไหนผู้เล่นวงในวะ? มีแต่ปีกกับการ์ดทั้งนั้นเลย”
ผมก็ได้ลองคิดอยู่นะ เรื่องพวกนี้ และขอบอกไว้ตรงนี้เลยว่า ผมเองก็ลำบากใจไม่น้อยที่จะต้องตัดเอาผู้เล่นวงในจัดๆ อย่าง สุขเดฟ โคเคอร์ และ นพพร แสงทองออกจากรายชื่อทีม
แต่จุดนี้ก็ต้องยอมรับว่า ปีนี้ เป็นปีทองของเหล่าผู้เล่นวงนอกจริงๆ
เพราะฉะนั้น ทีม 5 ผู้เล่นยอดเยี่ยมทีมนี้ จึงมีแต่ผู้เล่นวงนอก…เคปะ?
กานต์ณัฐ เสมอใจ: 10.7 แต้ม, 3.7 รีบาวด์, 2.8 แอสสิสต์, 1.4 สตีล, อัตราการแอสสิสต์ 15.6 AST%
มาเริ่มกันที่ “บาส” กานต์ณัฐ เสมอใจ ก่อนละกัน
ปีที่แล้ว ผมก็ต้องยอมรับว่า ผมเองก็ประหลาดใจที่ กานต์ณัฐ ติดชุด 5 ผู้เล่นยอดเยี่ยม อย่างเป็นทางการของ TBL ปีที่ผ่านมา เขาเล่นได้ดีจริงๆ แต่ก็ต้องมองว่า เขาแบ่งภาระการเล่นการ์ดจ่ายออกไปมากในระบบของโค้ชเส็ง ประเสริฐ ศิริพจนากุล โดยแบ่งเล่นกับ “โส” โสฬส สุนทรศิริ และ “อาร์ม” ณัฐกานต์ เมืองบุญ จึงได้ลงเล่นแค่ 18.7 นาที เมื่อปีที่แล้ว
แต่ในปีนี้ อะไรๆ ก็เปลี่ยนแปลงไปมาก (ตั้งแต่การเปลี่ยนโค้ช และ การย้ายออกไปของ ณัฐกานต์) ซึ่งเหมือนว่าจะทำให้ กานต์ณัฐมีอิสระภาพในการโลดแล่นมากขึ้น
เช่นเดียวกันกับ ไพรัช (ที่กล่าวไว้ข้างบน) กานต์ณัฐ ออกสตารท์ ได้ไม่ดีเท่าไหร่นัก ทำไปเพียง 5.3 แต้มใน 4 เกมแรก อีกทั้งยังทำคะแนนไม่ถึง 2 หลักอีกด้วย แต่หลังจากที่มีการเปลี่ยนตัวผู้เล่นต่างชาติ กานต์ณัฐ กลับมาเข้าฝักทำไป 13.1 แต้มต่อเกม เหมือนว่าจะมีอะไรดลใจให้กลับมาร้อนแรงในช่วงท้ายฤดูกาล (และช่วงเพลย์ออฟ) ทำให้เขามีความมุ่งมั่นกับเกมบุก และการสร้างสรรค์เกมมากขึ้น
ความเห็นของผมตอนนี้ ผมว่า กานต์ณัฐ เป็นนักบาสชาวไทย (ที่โตที่เมืองไทย) ที่มีความสามารถรอบด้านมากที่สุดในไทยแล้ว แต่หลายๆ ครั้งเหมือนจะขึ้นอยู่กับอารมณืของเจ้าตัวด้วย
เวลาไหนที่กานต์ณัฐมุ่งมั่น 100% ความมั่นใจของเขาน่าจะอยู่ในระดับที่เขาอย่างสร้างจังหวะการทำแต้มให้ตัวเอง หรือ ให้กับเพื่อนร่วมทีม เขาทำได้แน่นอนไม่มีปัญหา …แต่ในบางจังหวะ ถ้าเขาหลุดๆ ก็อาจจะดูเหมือนเฉื่อยๆ นิ่งเฉยๆ ลงไปบ้าง
อย่างไรก็ตาม ในปีนี้ กานต์ณัฐ เจอสิ่งที่จะกระตุ้นเขาได้อย่างต่อเนื่อง ในช่วงเวลาที่เหมาะเจาะ ทำให้เขาเล่นได้อย่างสุดยอด และทำให้เขาติดทีม 5 ผู้เล่นยอดเยี่ยมทีมแรกทีมนี้ได้

“เฟรดดี้” เฟรดเดอริค ลิช (หรือที่หลายๆ คนยังอาจจะคุ้นเคยกันในนาม เฟรดดี้ โกล์ดสตีน) น่าจะเป็นคนที่ชิลล์ที่สุดใน TBL แล้วแหละ ด้วยบุคลิกภาพที่สบายๆ ยิ้มแย้มแจ่มใสตลอดเวลา (จนน่าสงสัย…) จับมือทักทายทุกคน ขอโทษขอโพยในจังหวะที่มีการปะทะกันอย่างไม่ตั้งใจ รับคำขอโทษจากทุกคน และชอบหยอกล้อไปมา ยิ่งพอรวมๆ กับรูปแบบการเล่นที่เหมือนว่าจะไม่ต้องใช้ความพยายามอะไรมากของเขาแล้ว ทำให้บางทีเรามองข้ามความ “ยาก” ของแต่ละอย่างที่เขาทำในสนาม
หลายๆ ครั้ง เวลาเราเห็นเฟรดดี้ทำอะไรบางอย่างที่ไม่น่าทำได้ แต่กลับทำได้อย่างง่ายดาย เราก็ได้แค่สายหัว ขำหึๆ เบาๆ แล้วบอกว่า “เฟรดดี้ ก็คือ เฟรดดี้ จริงๆ”
ในช่วงที่เล่น ABL มีประเด็นข้อข้องใจสำหรับเฟรดดี้ เรื่องการตัดสินใจที่จะยิง และ ประสิทธิภาพในการทำแต้ม แต่มาใน TBL กลับไม่เป็นปัญหาเลย เขายิงสามแต้มลงในอัตราความแม่นยำ 35.5% ซึ่งดีที่สุดเป็นอันดับ 7 ในลีกปีนี้ แต่สิ่งที่น่าเสียดาย คือ ประสิทธิภาพในการทำแต้มช่วงใกล้ห่วงอาจจะไม่สูงเท่าไหร่นัก เพราะ การที่ต้องเบียดเอาร่างกายขนาดเล็กเพรียวของเขาเข้าไปถึงตรงนั้น แล้วยิงออกไป ก็ใช่ว่าจะได้ลูกยิงในอุดมคติ…แม้ว่าการที่ได้ดูเฟรดดี้ลากเลื้อยเข้าไปข้างในมันจะน่ามหัสจรรย์แค่ไหนก็ตามที
เรื่องเกมบุกก็ไม่น่ามีข้อข้องใจเท่าไหร่ในปีนี้ แต่สิ่งที่ผลักดันให้ เฟรดดี้ ก้าวข้ามเพื่อนร่วมงานทุกคน ขึ้นมาเป็น 5 ผู้เล่นยอดเยี่ยมประจำปีนี้ คือ เรื่องการป้องกัน จังหวะไหนที่เฟรดดี้ตั้งใจจะออกมากดดันบอลสูงกว่าปกติ มันเป็นอะไรที่น่าอึดอัดแทนคนเลี้ยงบอลมาก ด้วยความที่เฟรดดี้เคลื่อนไหวขาไวมาก แถมยังก้มตัวลงต่ำอีก มันจึงกดดันให้ต้องจ่ายบอลออกไปในท่าแปลก หรือ เสียการครองบอลไปได้ง่ายๆ
ยังมีสิ่งที่สงสัยเกี่ยวกับเฟรดดี้ อย่างเวลาการลงเล่นที่ขึ้นๆ ลงๆ หรือ บางจังหวะที่เขาดูเล่นแบบ ชิลล์ เกินไป แต่ก็ปฏิเสธไม่ได้ว่า สิ่งที่เขาแสดงออกมาทุกๆ ครั้งที่ลงในสนาม มันมากพอที่จะดนให้เขาเป็นหนึ่งใน 5 ผู้เล่นยอดเยี่ยมของ Tones & Definition ใน TBL 2016 ครั้งนี้

ในที่สุด!
สองปีที่แล้ว (ระหว่าง TBL 2014), ผมได้แอบเทใจให้ “อาร์ม” ณัฐกานต์ เมืองบุญ เป็นผู้เล่นทรงคุณค่าประจำฤดูกาลนั้น (ณ ที่นี่ ไม่ได้ต้องการจะตำหนิ โสฬส สุนทรศิริ ที่ได้รางวัลปีนั้นไป…แต่ยังคิดอยู่ว่า ณัฐกานต์น่าจะได้จริงๆ) เขาเป็นแกนเคลื่อนเกมของทีม แมดโกทส์ ที่มีแต่ผู้เล่นโคตรฝีมือในทีม โดยแจกจ่ายไปให้ตัวทำแต้มแต่ละคนอย่างพอเพียง จนได้แชมป์มาครอง เขาไม่ได้ทำแต้มกระจุยกระจาย…แต่นั่นก็เพราะว่าจริงๆ แล้วเขาก็ไม่ได้จำเป็นที่จะต้องทำแต้มกระจุยกระจาย สิ่งที่สำคัญสำหรับเกมบุกของ แมดโกทส์ ปีนั้น ก็คือ การเคลื่อนเกมของเขา
ในปีถัดมา ณัฐกานต์ ได้ย้ายไป โมโน แวมไพร์ และก็เป็นอีกครั้งที่เขาต้องเป็นแกนเคลื่อนของทีมมากฝีมืออีกครั้ง แต่สิ่งที่แตกต่างออกไปครั้งนี้คือ เขาต้องแบ่งภาระหน้าที่การเป็นการ์ดจ่ายของทีม กับ การ์ดจ่ายฝีมือจัดจ้านอีกสองคน (ทั้ง บาส กานต์ณัฐ และ โส โสฬส) แน่นอนว่า ณัฐกานต์ ก็มีเกมที่ดีๆ ของตัวเองเช่นเดียวกัน แต่การที่เป็นการ์ดที่ต้องมีบอลในมือ มาเล่นกับ การ์ดอีกสองคน ที่ต้องมีบอลในมือ มันไม่ใช่ไอเดียที่ดีเท่าไหร่นัก
ปีนี้ เขาย้ายกลับมาที่ โมโน ทิวไผ่งาม และ ทุกๆ อย่างเหมือนว่าจะเป็นใจให้กับการก้าวไปข้างหน้าของการ์ดจ่ายคนนี้ กลับมาคราวนี้ เขาได้มาร่วมงานกับ โค้ชคนแรก ในรังของทีมแรกของเขา ในจังหวะพอดิบพอดีที่ทีมต้องการให้มีสตาร์ก้าวขึ้นมานำทีม
ปีนี้เป็นประสบการณ์ที่สนุกที่ได้เห็น ณัฐกานต์ สวมบทบาทบู๊ล้างผลาญ ใน สไตล์ ของตัวเอง ประสิทธิภาพในการทำแต้มของเขาตกลงไปพอสมควรก็จริงๆ แต่การที่ได้เห็นเขายิงลูกสำคัญหลายต่อหลายครั้ง ทำให้ได้เห็นซักที ว่า ณัฐกานต์คนนี้ เป็นสตาร์ของทีมได้

ว่าแต่ ถ้าจะพูดเรื่องสตาร์ละก็…
ยิ่งได้เห็น “เป้” ชิดชัย อนันติ เล่นมากเท่าไหร่ ก็ยิ่งรู้สึกเหมือนว่าจินตนาการจุดสิ้นสุดของศักยภาพความเป็นไปได้ของเขายากขึ้นเท่านั้น ปีที่แล้ว เขาเป็นตัวทำคะแนนชั้นอ๋องของ โมโน ทิวไผ่งาม แต่หลายๆ คนก็ลืมไปว่า ปีที่แล้ว ชิดชัยมีความได้เปรียบตรงที่หลายๆ คนยังไม่ได้คาดหวังอะไรกับเขามากขนาดนั้น ทีมตรงข้ามไม่ค่อยได้มุ่งความสนใจไปที่เขา หรือ แม้แต่คาดว่าทีม โมโน ทิวไผ่งาม จะเข้ารอบชิงด้วยซ้ำ แล้วพอมันเกิดขึ้นจริงๆ มันก็มีความรู้สึกชื่นชมที่เอ่อล้นออกมา
แต่พอมาในปีนี้ ชิดชัย ย้ายมาที่ โมโน แวมไพร์ ซึ่งเป็นทีม แชมป์เก่า ทุกๆ ทีมได้เห็นฟอร์มของเขาจากปีที่แล้วมาแล้ว อีกทั้งยังเห็นฟอร์มใน ABL อีก แล้วไหนจะฟอร์มในการแข่งขัน SEABA Stankovic Cup อีก
มาในคราวนี้ แทบจะทุกคน รู้ว่าเขาจะมาไม้ไหน
แต่ก็ยังหยุดไม่ได้อยู่ดี ชิดชัยไม่รีรอที่จะแผลงฤทธิ์ จัดไป 31 แต้มใส่ทีมอันดับสองในตารางอย่างแมดโกทส์ ในเกมที่ 4 ของฆดูกาล แค่นั้นไม่พอ ก่อนที่จะจบฤดูกาลปกติ ชิดชัยจัดอีก 41 แต้ม (ซึ่งมากที่สุกในฤดูกาลปกติสำหรับผู้เล่นใน TBL ทุกคนใน 1 เกม) ใส่ทีมไฮเทค ที่เป็นทีมอันดับ 1 ในตาราง
เกมบุกของชิดชัยได้กระจายวงออกกว้างมากขึ้นในลีกครั้งนี้ นอกจากการใช้แขนที่ยืดยาวออกราวกับไม่มีจุดสิ้นสุด ข้ามเข้าหาห่วงและวางบอล ปีนี้ ชิดชัยยิงสามแต้มแม่นขึ้นมาก โดยอัตราความแม่นยำ 37.3% ของเขาถือว่าเป็นอันดับที่ 4 ในลีก
สิ่งที่เจ๋งที่สุดสำหรับการติดตามดูชิดชัยคือ แม้ว่าเราจะได้เห็นอะไรต่างๆ นานา มาตลอด…แต่มันยังอดมีความรู้สึกว่า “เขายังทำได้อีกมากกว่านี้”
ทั้งนี้ทั้งนั้น ถ้าเป็นฤดูกาลอื่น คือว่า ชิดชัย น่าจะเป็น ผู้เล่นยอดเยี่ยม ได้ไม่ยาก หากแต่ว่า…มันกลับมีคนที่ “สุด” ยิ่งกว่าอีก

ปีนี้เป็นปีที่ดีสำหรับบาสเกตบอลในประเทศไทยจริงๆ มีเรื่องราวเบื้องหลังหลายๆ อย่างจากนักกีฬาหลายๆ คน ที่อยากจะหยิบยกขึ้นมาแบให้ทุกๆ คนได้ติดตาม
แต่สำหรับผมแล้ว ผมคิดว่า การกลับมาของ โมเสส มอร์แกน ใน TBL หลังจากที่ฝืดเคืองนิดๆ ในปีแรก น่าจะเป็นเรื่องราวที่สุดยอดที่สุดแล้วแหละ

มาเริ่มต้นด้วยการเทียบสถิติของโมเสสจากปีที่แล้ว กับปีนี้ กันซักนิด

อย่าลืมพิจารณาว่า ผู้เล่นส่วนใหญ่ในทีมปีนี้ ก็เป็นผู้เล่นที่เล่นด้วยกันมาที่ สโมสรการไฟฟ้าฯ ปีที่แล้วเช่นกัน เราจะเห็นว่า ทั้งๆ ที่มอร์แกนลงเล่นน้อยกว่าประมาณ 4 นาที แต่เขากลับทำแต้มได้มากกว่าปีที่แล้วเกือบ 9 แต้ม ปีที่แล้ว โมเสส ดูเหมือนจะยิงทิ้งยิงขว้างค่อนข้างมาก แต่เขาได้ไปขัดเกลาในบทบาทอื่น กับทีม ไซ่ง่อน ฮีต ใน ABL ทำให้เขากลับมาอีกครั้งด้วยความเข้าใจเกมที่มากกว่าเดิม และผลที่แสดงออกมามันโคตรจะน่าประทับใจ
ในปีนี้ โมเสส ทำไปอย่างน้อย 30 แต้ม ในทั้งหมด 6 เกม (?!?!) และมี 4 เกมที่ยิงสามแต้มลงอย่างน้อย 5 ลูก ซึ่งไม่มีใครที่แม้แต่จะเข้าใกล้ตัวเลขเหล่านี้ได้เลย การที่เขาขัดเกลาความน่ากลัวในระยะไกล ทำให้เขาสามารถแหวกเข้าไปทำแต้มข้างในง่ายขึ้นอีกด้วย และด้วยความที่ โมเสส โดนฟาวล์เยอะอยู่แล้ว การที่เขาเพิ่มความแม่นยำการยิงลูกโทษจาก 56.5% เป็น 64.9% ก็ยิ่งทำให้จัดจ้านมากขึ้นกว่าเดิมอีก
ถ้าคุณบอกว่า ปีนี้ โมเสส ได้มาเล่นในสภาพสิ่งแวดล้อมที่ดีกว่าผีที่แล้ว ผมก็ยอมรับ เพราะผมเองก็บอกไว้ตั้งแต่ปีที่แล้วเช่นกัน:
ผมยังคงยืนกรานว่า โมเสส เข้ามาเล่นในระบบที่ไม่เอื้อกับรูปแบบการเล่นของตัวเองโดยแท้จริง
คงไม่ผิดหรอก ที่จะกล่าวว่า ผลงานของโมเสสปีนี้ ก็มีส่วนมาจากระบบของทีม แต่ก็คงต้องยกให้กับการซุ่มซ้อมของมอร์แกนที่ทำให้ตัวเองพัฒนาขึ้นมาจากปีที่แล้วมากขนาดนี้
มาดูกันอีกรอบสำหรับสถิติของ โมเสส ในปีนี้ เทียบกับผู้เล่นคนอื่นๆ ในลีก เพื่อให้เห็นจะๆ ว่า เจ๋งขนาดไหน

ปีนี้ก็เป็นปีที่สนุกสนานอีกครั้งสำหรับ ไทยแลนด์ บาสเกตบอล ลีก …แต่ก็เป็นเรื่องที่น่าเศร้าว่ามันกำลังจะปิดฉากลงอีกครั้ง กว่าที่บทความนี้ะออกมาสู่สายตาประชาชน เราอาจจะรู้ผลการแข่งขันรอบชิงระหว่าง โมโน แวมไพร์ และ ไฮเทค ซึ่งเป็นครั้งแรกที่สองทีมยักษ์ใหญ่นี้ เจอกันในรอบเพลย์ออฟ
จากผู้เล่นทั้ง 17 คนที่กล่าวมาก่อนหน้านี้ทุกคน ผมเพียงแค่รู้สึกว่า ผมต้องการที่จะ ไฮไลต์ ผลงานของเขาออกมาให้ทุกๆ คนได้เห็น แม้ว่าจะเป็นเพียงสื่ออย่างไม่เป็นทางการก็ตามที
ตลอดการแข่งขันทั้ง 14 เกมในฤดูกาลปกติ พวกเขาตั้งใจเล่นเพื่อที่จะให้เป็นที่สุดของที่สุด และถ้าปล่อยให้ความพยายามของพวกเขาลอยผ่านไป ก็คงจะไม่แฟร์
ไม่ใช่เพียงแค่ 17 คนนี้เท่านั้น แต่ผู้เล่นทั้ง 131 คนที่เล่นใน TBL ปีนี้ รวมไปถึง โค้ช สต๊าฟ และทุกๆ คนที่ได้มีส่วนร่วมในการทำให้ TBL ปีนี้ สนุกอย่างที่แฟนๆ อย่างผมได้ติดตามชม

เอาละ ผมจะยิงความเห็นของผมออกไปอย่างรวดเร็วและเรียบง่าย อย่างแรก ผมขอบอกว่า ผมไม่มีความข้องใจกับผู้ที่ได้รับรางวัลไป ทุกคนคู่ควรกับตำแหน่งทรงเกียรติของแต่ละคนจริงๆ เพียงแต่ มันมีความคิดเห็นล่องลอยไปมาที่ต้องพ่นออกมาซักหน่อย อาจจะคล้ายๆ กับหลายๆ คน:
- ทุกคนต้องได้รับรางวัลรอยยิ้มยอดเยี่ยมแน่นอน
- ถ้วยแต่ละใบปีนี้สีมันวาวจริงๆ ชอบๆ
- ผมยังพยายามทำความเข้าใจกับตรรกะของการที่ ผู้เล่นทรงคุณค่า ที่ไม่ได้เป็นผู้เล่นที่ดีที่สุดในตำแหน่งของตัวเอง เอ…หรือว่า แมกนัม โรลล์ ไม่ถือว่าเล่นในตำแหน่ง 5 ตำแหน่ง? หรือว่า จัสติน ฮาวเวิร์ด เป็น เซนเตอร์ที่ดีกว่า…แต่ โรลล์ นั้นทรงคุณค่ามากกว่า?
- ทำไม เอเวอร์รี่ ชาเรอร์ ต้องเอาปลาไหลมอร์เรย์ไปพันหัว
- บางทีก็ดูไม่ออกว่าจริงๆ แล้ว เฟรดดี้ เป็นคนรับรางวัล หรือ เป็นคนมอบรางวัล
- รอยยิ้มของ แมกนัม มันช่างเหมือนกันเด็กน้อยที่วางกับดักแกล้งเพื่อนแล้วรอจังหวะที่มันจะแผลงฤทธิ
- กางเกงขอสั้นของ แมกนัม โรลล์ คือที่สุดของความสุดยอด
- ในบรรดาผู้เล่นทั้งหกคน ผมไม่อยากจะเชื่อว่า รอยยิ้ม ของจัสติน ฮาวเวิร์ด กลับเป็นรอยยิ้มที่ดูดึงดูดมีเสน่ห์ชวนค้นหาและดูดดื่มที่สุด…ดูหน้าเขาสิ!!!
- ประทับใจที่ บาส กานต์ณัฐ ยังคงไว้ซึ่งสายเลือดเอเชียด้วยการปล่อยสัญลักษณ์สองนิ้วน่ารักๆ อย่างเนียนๆ
- …ชิดชัย อนันติไม่ติดได้ไงฟะ
- คณะกรรมการให้รางวัลต้องตัดสินใจให้เป็นทางเดียวกัน ว่าจะให้รางวัลตามตำแหน่งที่แท้จริงของนักกีฬา หรือ จะให้รางวัลแบบเป็น 5 ผู้เล่นยอดเยี่ยม โดยไม่สนใจตำแหน่ง (ซึ่งก็มีทำกันในหลายๆ ลีก) ผมพูดตรงๆ ว่ามันค่อนข้างจะแปลก ที่ บาส กานต์ณัญ ได้รางวัล การ์ดจ่ายยอดเยี่ยมเมื่อปีที่แล้ว แล้วมาได้รางวัล ผู้เล่นยอดเยี่ยมในปีนี้…ในตำแหน่งสมอลล์ ฟอร์เวิร์ด นี่รูปเทียบจากปีที่แล้วขำๆ ฮาๆ:
เอาจริงๆ ผมไม่มีปัญหากับที่ กานต์ณัฐ ติด 5 ผู้เล่นยอดเยี่ยม (เพราะผมเองยังวางไว้เช่นเดียวกัน) แต่ผมคิดว่า มันคงไม่มีประเด็นอะไรมาก หากไม่ได้วางให้กานต์ณัฐ เป็น สมอลล์ ฟอร์เวิร์ด แค่นั้นเอง
…อีกอย่าง ถึงแม้ว่า โมเสส มอร์แกน จะเจ๋งเป้งขนาดไหน แต่เขาไม่น่าจะใช่พาวเวอร์ ฟอร์เวิร์ด นะ - …ว่าแต่ว่า ตำแหน่ง ผู้เล่นทรงคุณค่าปีที่แล้ว นี่มันใครนะ?
- การที่ผสมเอาทั้ง Import และผู้เล่นไทยมาพิจารณา มันทำให้การที่ตัด เจฟฟ์ วีแอร์เนซ ออกไปเป็นเรื่องที่ชวนฉงนอีกเรื่องนึงเหมือนกัน
- แต่การที่ไม่มีชิดชัย อนันติ นี่ค่อนข้างเหนือความคาดหมายมากๆ ผมไม่ได้บอกว่าต้องเอาเขาไปแทนตำแหน่งของใครคนใดคนหนึ่งนะ…แต่สร้างตำแหน่งใหม่ขึ้นมาเลยก็ยังดี
- เอาจริงๆ แบบจริงๆ จังๆ ไม่ล้อเล่นละนะ
เป้าหมายของการยิงความคิดเห็นรัวๆ ครั้งนี้ อยากแสดงให้เห็นว่า การให้รางวัลพวกนี้ มันไม่ใช่เรื่องเล็กๆ น้อยๆ มันเป็นสิ่งที่สร้างเรื่องราวให้ผู้เล่นแต่ละคนขึ้นมาได้ เพราะฉะนั้น การที่จะหยิบยื่นรางวัล ให้ผู้เล่นคนใดคนหนึ่ง อยากให้มันมีกระบวนการพิจารณาอย่างเข้มข้น และ ถี่ถ้วน
นี่คือสิ่งที่จะอยู่ติดตัวผู้เล่นไปตลอดอาชีพการเล่นของเขา ไม่ว่าเขาจะได้รับรางวัล หรือ แม้แต่เขาไม่ได้รับรางวัล
หลายคนอาจจะมองย้อนกลับมาที่ TBL 2016 ซักวัน แล้วสงสัยว่า เกิดอะไรขึ้นกับ ชิดชัย อนันติ ทำไมเขาถึงไม่ได้อะไรเลยในปีนี้ อีก 10 ปีหลังจากนี้ ถ้ามีแฟนบาสชาวไทยคนหนึ่ง ตัดสินใจย้อนกลับมาติดตาม TBL 2016 ผู้เล่นที่เลือกมาวันนี้ คือ ตัวแทนของที่สุด ของที่สุดในปีนี้
อย่างที่ผมบอก ทุกคนที่ได้รางวัลไปวันนี้ สมควรกับรางวัลที่ได้ไปจริงๆ เพียงแค่ผมอยากเน้นย้ำอีกครั้งว่า รางวัลพวกนี้ มันเป็นสิ่งที่สำคัญ รางวัลแต่ละอัน มันเป็นสิ่งที่ล้ำค่าสำหรับนักกีฬาคนหนึ่งได้ ถ้าผู้ให้ ให้ความสำคัญกับมันจริงๆ
