Basketball is really a hot trend now in Thailand. As a Thai basketball junkie, I have to say that I couldn’t be happier.
Other than the SEABA Stankovic Cup that is going to be held 22-29 May (which I have been constantly remind everyone, so don’t say no one informed you guys), Thailand will also be hosting another international basketball competition.
“NCAA Pacific Rim Championship 2016” is coming to you soon!
This tournament will be held from 13-15 May at the Thai-Japanese Stadium (both Vesna 1 and 2)
Why two stadiums though?
Because there’s going to be a WHOLE lot of basketball. The NCAA Pacific Rim Championship is an invitation for three age groups (U14, U16, and U19) and teams from all over Asia (Taiwan, Japan, Iran, Indonesia, Philippines) will be joining.
The full list of teams I’ll post another time, but I’ll just give you some highlighted names just to keep things juicy.
Among the pool of U19 teams will be
– BATANG GILAS, or the Philippines U18 team that had recently won the SEABA U18 Championship in Medan.
– San Beda
– UST
– Bangkok Christian COllege (which should feature all 5 Thailand U18 players)
– The Iran U18 NT, hosts of the FIBA Asia U18 Championship
Other age groups have their own big names accordingly.
Aside from the main competitions, I’ve heard that there will also be some sort of Skills Challenge event for the players to participate in.
This all sounds pretty fun, don’t you think?
Again, the NCAA Pacific Rim Championship will be held from 13-15 May at Thai-Japanese Stadium between 8AM to 7PM. The opening ceremony will be on the 13th starting at 12.30 PM.
Make sure you find the time to be there!

กีฬาบาสเกตบอลกำลังมาแรงจริงๆ ในเมืองไทยเรา เห็นแล้วก็อดปลื้มปริ่มไม่ได้
นอกจากงาน SEABA Stankovic Cup ที่จะจัดขึ้นในช่วงปลายเดือนพฤษภาคม ระหว่าง 22-29 พฤษภาคม (ย้ำขนาดนี้แทบทุกโพสต์ อย่ามาบอกว่า ไม่มีใครเตือน) ประเทศไทยกำลังจมีการจัดแข่งขันระดับนานาชาติอีกงานหนึ่ง ซึ่งมีชื่อว่า
“NCAA Pacific Rim Championships 2016”!!!
ซึ่งรายการนี้จะจัดตั้งแต่วันที่ 13-15 พฤษภาคม ที่สนามกีฬาไทยญี่ปุ่น-ดินแดง ทั้ง เวศน์ 1 และ เวศน์ 2 เลยครับ
ถามว่า ทำไมต้องใช้ 2 สนาม? ก็เพราะมันแข่งกันเยอะนี่สิ
การแข่งขันในรายการ NCAA Pacific Rim Championship นี้ จะมีแข่งในรถ่นอายุ U14, U16, และรุ่น U19 กันเลยทีเดียว ซึ่งทีมที่ีได้รับเชิญเข้าแข่งขันงานนี้ มีมาจากแทบทั่วมุมเอเชีย ทั้ง ไต้หวัน อิหร่าน ญี่ปุ่น อินโดนีเซีย และ ฟิลิปปินส์
สำหรับรายชื่อทีมทั้งหมด เดี๋ยวผมจะค่อยมาแจงอีกที แต่ตอนนี้ เอาพวกชื่อเด็ดๆ กันไปให้น้ำลายสอหน่อยละกัน
ในรุ่น U19 ก็จะมี
– บาตางกิลาส หรือ ทีมชาติฟิลิปปินส์ชุด U18 ปีที่เพิ่งคว้าแชมป์ SEABA U18 Championship มา
– จากไทย ก็มี โรงเรียนกรุงเทพคริสเตียน (ซึ่งน่าจะมีพวกตัวจากทีมชาติชุด U18 มาครบ) โรงเรียนนานาชาติเทรลล์ แล้วก็ โรงเรียนกีฬากรุงเทพ
– ทีมชาติชุด U18 ของอิหร่าน ก็เห็นว่าจะมา ซึ่งจะเป็นเจ้าภาพรายการ FIBA Asia U18 Championship ที่ไทยจะไปเข้าร่วม ช่วงเดือนกรกฎาคม
ในรุ่นอื่นๆ ก็มีชื่อใหญ่ๆ มาเข้าร่วมเช่นเดียวกัน
นอกจากนี้ยังเห็นว่าจะมีการจัดอีเวนท์ประมาณ Skills Challenge ให้นักกีฬาได้มาวัดกันด้วย
เฮ้ย ผมว่า มันก็น่าสนุกดีนะ
สำหรับงานนี้ ขอย้ำอีกรอบนะครับ ว่าจัดตั้งแต่วันที่ 13-15 พฤษภาคม ที่สนามกีฬาไทย-ญี่ปุ่นดินแดง ทั้งเวศน์ 1 และ เวศน์ 2 ช่วงเวลา 8.00 น. ถึง 19.00 น. โดย พิธีเปิดจะเริ่ม 12.30 น. ของวันที่ 13 พฤษาคม
