Kris Rosales, ex-Singapore Slinger, signs with Talk N’ Text

Singapore Slingers’ ASEAN Import in their recent ABL Season 6 run, Kris Rosales, has signed with the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters.

 The deal is reported to be for a duration of two and a half years and the 21-year-old will join a Talk N’ Text team that needs a breath of fresh air after another short run in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup playoffs, losing 2-1 in a quarterfinals matchup against the Alaska Aces.

Rosales’ stint in the ABL with the Singapore Slingers might not have been eye-popping statistically, but you could see that he fit in like a glove and made the team better as a whole. He averages 10.1 points, 3.2 assists, and 3.9 rebounds during the regular season. Despite playing with an injured left hand, he was able to help propel his team to their first Finals birth and pushed the first seed KL Dragons to the brink before losing out in the decisive game 5.

Talk ‘N Text Coach, Jong Uichico, has had his eye on Rosales since the ABL Finals and even flew down to Singapore to catch Rosales in action live. It seems like he was pleased with what he saw.

Coach Coy Banal of the Phoenix Fuelmasters was also in the attendance of Rosales’ games in the ABL Finals. However, he will now have to watch if the team’s decision to not sign the talented guard after drafting him with the 21st draft pick in last year’s PBA draft will look bad in hindsight.

Personally, I loved watching Rosales play with his unorthodox style and uber-efficient mid-range game. I hope it translates well in the PBA as it will not only prove Kris’ talent, but also the ABL’s credibility as a launching pad for PBA talents.

คริส โรซาเลส ASEAN Import ของสิงคโปร์ สลิงเกอร์ส ใน ASEAN Basketball League ซีซั่นที่ 6 ได้เซ็นสัญญากับ ทอล์กแอนด์เท็กซ์ โทรแปงเท็กซ์เตอร์ส (TNT) เรียบร้อยแล้ว

ตามรายงาน จะเป็นสัญญา 2 ปีครั้ง ซึ่งการที่ได้โรซาเลสไป จะทำให้ TNT ได้การ์ดรุ่นใหม่ไฟแรงมากระตุ้นทีม หลังจากที่ตกรอบใน Commissioner’s Cup แพ้ อลาสกา เอซเซส 2-1 เกมส์

แม้ว่าสถิติของโรซาเลสใน ABL อาจจะไม่ได้ดูหรูหราสะดุดตา แต่การที่ได้ดูเขาเล่นก็จะเห็นได้ว่า เขาเล่นเข้ากับทุกๆ คนได้ดีมาก และทำให้รูปทีมโดยรวมดูดีมากขึ้น ตลอดทั้งฤดูกาลปกติ เขาทำเฉลี่ย 10.1 แต้ม 3.2 แอสสิสต์ และ 3.9 รีบาวด์

ในรอบเพลย์ออฟ แม้ว่าจะมีอาการบาดเจ็บที่มือ แต่เขาก็ช่วยให้ทีมเข้าสู่รอบชิงเป็นครั้งแรกในประวัติศาสตร์สโมสร อีกทั้งยังสู้กับทีมเต็งอย่าง เคแอล ดรากอนส์ จนต้องไปวัดกันที่เกม 5 ก่อนที่จะแพ้ไป

จอง อูอิชิโก โค้ชของ TNT ได้บินมาดูฟอร์มของโรซาเลสเป็นการส่วน ตั้งแต่ช่วงรอบชิงแล้ว เพราะฉะนั้น คิดว่าคงเห็นอะไรที่ถูกใจจนถึงขั้นต้องจับปลายปากกามาจรดลงลายนาม

ซึ่งทำให้ โค้ช คอย บานาล ของทีม ฟินิกส์ ฟูเอลมาสเตอร์ส ที่บินมาดู โรซาเลส เช่นกัน ต้องนั่งลุ้นว่า จะเสียดายหรือไม่ หลังจากที่ draft มาเป็นอันดับที่ 21 ใน PBA Draft ปีที่แล้ว แต่ไม่จับเซ็นสัญญา จึงทำให้ โรซาเลสไปเล่นที่ สิงคโปร์ แทน

สำหรับส่วนตัวผมแล้ว ผมชอบรูปแบบการเล่นของโรซาเลสที่มีความเป็นเอกลักษณ์ในตัวเองสูง และมีเกมระยะกลางที่มีประสิทธิภาพมาก หวังแต่ว่า ความสามารถของเขาจะเปลี่ยนไปเล่นใน PBA ได้อย่างไม่ติดขัด เพราะนอกซะจากว่า มันจะพิสูจน์ว่าฝีมือของเขาคือของจริง มันยังพิสูจน์ได้อีกว่า ABL สามารถใช้เป็นแท่นกระโดดไป PBA ได้ดี
